Book Description

3 Feb 2000
Shirley's is curly, Mike's has spikes, Dave's has waves - they all have haircuts to suit their face. But no-one can remember what Jim's face is like, it is hidden behind an enormous fringe. He's not too keen to have his hair cut, but when he is finally in the barber's chair, it is a simple snip, Jim is trimmed! First published in 1999 for 3-7's.

Product Description

Amazon Review

Oh my! Jim is in desperate need of a trim. With his wild and wacky hair all over the place he misses balls, walks into walls and, well, you cannot imagine what happens to him when he tries to eat spaghetti. But all this mayhem could be brought to an abrupt halt if only Jim would succumb to the power of the scissors. But won't it hurt?

In Need a Trim, Jim Kay Umansky and Margaret Chamberlain get a firm grip on a childhood fear--that first all important trip to the hairdresser--with raucous illustrations that see the hapless Jim falling, bumping, tripping and messing all over the place because of his reluctance to get his hair cut.

Rip-roaring rhyme that perfectly captures the mood of the bright and bold illustrations, Need a Trim,Jim is a fantastic book to share with a child who is about to approach the hairdresser's chair for the very first time, but makes great reading for any child who simply loves a great story. Age 3 and over. --Susan Harrison

4.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant for young children hair cut visits 14 Sep 2001
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
This book adds to the confidence of young children who are about to visit the hairdresser. It is enjoyed immensely by my two children, probably because of the lovely rhyming style of the book and the humour. This is a strong favourite, as is "You can swim, Jim" by the same authors

5.0 out of 5 stars It worked! 27 Aug 2012
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
We bought this in the hope that it would convince our 2 year old that hair cuts weren't going to kill him and it worked! After reading it to him many times as a bedtime story we were able to take him to the hair dressers, with the book and read it to him whilst he had his hair cut. Thoroughly recommend.
