a good car film that shines in 3d. I recommend seeing all 3d movies at the theater. After all the screen is forty feet tall! And this one had lots of cars flying at you. 3d is great for just providing depth and realism to Any movie. but this one had many scenes where things were flying at you. The acting was good too. the story is silly though like all race car movie stories where they race across America and no one dies. And they don't get stopped. This has never happened in reality for good reason. But many races do take place on secluded back streets. At least until they are all caught. Still , these type of race movies go back to the seventies. With films like the great 'vanishing point' or 'gone in sixty seconds' (original film). Many others followed. They all feature muscle cars and that's really cool too. This one should be seen in 3d and the picture on this blu ray is very good. You do get a 2d version as well. I had to get the uk version because the stupid studio didn't put this 3d blu ray out in the U.S. . Even though the movie was in 3d at the theaters. IT's a converted film but it looks great as it was done expensively. This is a must for 3d movie collectors and fans of muscle car race stories.

A lot of people will be tempted to watch this film because of the involvement of Aaron Paul, who was one of the stars of the peerless Breaking Bad TV series. Paul is a blue collar worker named Tobey, who wants to take part in a high stakes illegal car race in San Francisco, organised by a villain named Monarch (Michael Keaton going through the motions in one of his usual slimeball roles). Tobey wants to win the race against a dumb rich guy named Dino, who caused the car crash death of Tobey's best mate. So, a big part of the film is about revenge. On the road-trip to San Francisco, Tobey is chased by the usual assortment of Keystone Kops, i.e. highway patrol cops who are presumably well trained to use pursuit vehicles, but who become strangely inept at the wheel at the mere sight of Tobey's American muscle car. There is a plentiful supply of action here, and if you are a petrol-head, you will certainly enjoy watching cars like a Pagani Zonda, Bugatti Veyron and Koenigsegg Agera go head to head on the road. Much as I like Aaron Paul, I don't think that this role was quite right for him, somebody like Nicolas Cage would have been better suited. Paul is convincing as a small-time crook, but he doesn't have the muscular presence to convince as a hard-man, which I think this film needed. Based on his wonderful work in Breaking Bad, I'm hoping that there is more to Aaron Paul's abilities than he is able to show in Need for Speed. Midnight Express is long overdue a remake, and I'm sure Aaron Paul would be absolutely brilliant taking on John Hurt's role as a long-term prisoner with a drug addiction. If you want to view a good chase movie which is more fun than this one, try Smokey and the Bandit. If you fancy a chase movie which has more of a raw edge, try Death Race 2000 (the original version).

Here we have some great acting, some fun races and some gorgeous cars. I am a huge car fan, yet really do not like the F&F films at all, as they seem like an action movie, and they find places to shove cars into the plot. This is truly a proper car film. Admittedly I was nervous when I first saw the title and knowing EA had some hand in this, but was honestly surprised. 5 stars I think because there really is no decent car films out there, and this one ticks the box.

Oh and yeah there is no CGI. All the flipping cars and explosions you see in the trailer, and the Mustang driving off the grand canyon, all live stunts. Can't fault that.

I though this was going to be another Fast and Furious clone but this movie is so much better. Great car races, good acting as well. I was entertained through the whole movie. The effects were great, the fact that they decided to go the non CGI route it really does show. I really liked the interaction between Aaron and Imogen. The only complain I had about the movie was that I would have been happy with another half to one hour of character development. Imogen's character especially seem to go from pretty blond stuck up accountant, to pretty blond thrill seeker with a cause very quickly. I am wondering if they saved this for the next movie. Aside from getting a few more girls to watch I have no idea what Rami Malek's streaking scene was about. All in all an excellent movie, with a great cast.

Forget any negative reviews, this film is great! Aaron Paul is superb as the main character and all the others are likeable too! Enjoy the rollercoaster ride of hi-octane action and engaging storyline and a soundtrack that's perfectly placed with everything happening on screen! Over two hours of fast paced escapist fun! Highly recommended! Play it loud and it's Home Cinema Heaven! One to watch again!

This movie is, by far, the best car movie ever, with maybe Bullitt being a close second. Its car sequence feature very fast, shiny, brightly coloured supercars and the stunts are outstanding and quite original. Unfortunately I can't remember any of the characters but the acting was quite good. A brilliant, fun, high-paced car-chasing movie.
