The new game delivers complete automotive self-expression with more than 30 of the hottest licensed turner cars and hundreds of aftermarket parts for nearly infinite visual and performance customization combinations.
Rather than having to select which races to participate in, Underground 2 takes a loose Grand Theft Auto approach to it all whereby you drive around a massive open plan city, visiting performance shops, car lots, body shops etc, and also entering any races that you like the look of. As well as this, you can also challenge any other boy racers you see around the city. EA have really opened the game up, and it works well.
As for the races themselves, well there are various different types, including drag, circuit, sprint, drift, url, street-x which does add some variety. By winning these races you get money with which to do up your motor.
Another novel feature is the ability to sign sponsership deals and appear on magazine covers in the game. Although not a big thing, it does break up the gameplay nicely.
I know many magazines have been a little critical of the graphics being a little blurry, and i see their point - however i play on a small TV and they don't disrupt the game.
So if you like taking anything from a 106 to an Evo and turning it into the stuff of dreams, then you can't go far wrong with Underground 2. It's worth a look from fans of racing games too.
Totally great!!
