The Need to Change the Mapmaker is a very different album. Dubbed "emocore" which seems to be a popular genre at the moment. However Jairus are not "emocore", just because they reflect that image in their clothes etc they are not. This band is very different and refreshing to listen to.

It's not just a beatdown of guitar chords and drums but creates an interesting web of music that enthrals you and compels you to listen to them. All you need to do is to listen to And Caligula Blushed to be convinced. It is a very powerful song. The guitarists are very talented and play around the sound to make something different.

Fans of At The Drive-In will like this band. Their lyrics are thought provoking and it all flows with the rest of the music. It provokes emotion and is fuelled with emotion. The music comes straight from their hearts and hits you full in the face. It's pure passion and will give you something to think about.

It is something worth buying as it is an interesting, refreshing listen and even if you are not a fan of this genre I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

i had the EP for xmas and it was a defying sound so i went a brought the full length album. its sooooo good and i so pleased that theyre back together and finishing they're new album.... goood stuff

Excellent album.They are however better on stage...LIVE!!! What you hear on the album is nothing compared to their stage prescence... Adam, on vocals cool & moody. The lift from guitars,adds to the,.. "Hey,these guys are good!" Add to that the whole thing/song being held together by the drumming...The whole essence of their music.Shame they have lost their main asset thou, Symon. Look out for his name, he is excellent..They will be lost without him!
