Review

'Sherrin is almost unbelievably well-connected, as this memoir attests. From Kenneth Williams to Laurence Olivier, via serious drama, comedy and light entertainment, he really has known or worked with several generations of Britain's most talented stars. And in anecdote after charming anecdote, he demonstrates quite why, at 75, he's still going strong' DAILY TELEGRAPH 'Ned Sherrin looks back on his long and glorious career in showbusiness with some witty anecdotes. In this delightful memoir he recalls working with some of the industry's greats, from Dame Judi Dench to Danny La Rue' DAILY EXPRESS 'Written in a breezy, matter-of-fact manner that still allows for some excellent one-liners and witty analyses . . . these memoirs are a pleasure to read' OBSERVER 'He gives a pungent flavour of everything, from the sights and sounds of the Orient to the atmosphere of 1960s London.' SCOTSMAN 'Sherrin lays on a feast of amusing stories.' MAIL ON SUNDAY 'His book is brimful with hilarious and often waspish anecdotes.' IRISH NEWS

Product Description

In this hilarious, frank and affecting autobiography Ned Sherrin looks back on his life and career with inimitable wit and a good deal of wisdom. In his long, successful and event-filled career Ned Sherrin has been an innovative satirist (That Was The Week That Was), novelist, anthologist, film producer (including Up Pompeii), celebrated theatre director (Side by Side by Sondheim, Jeffrey Bernard is Unwell) and BBC Radio 4 host (Loose Ends). His autobiography offers fascinating insights into the worlds of British film, radio, TV and theatre from the 1960s to the present day. From fainting in front of a high court judge, to matchmaking Princess Margaret and Starsky from Starsky and Hutch, he never forgets a good story, and is always happiest when the joke is on him. Famed for his charm and his keen ear for a fine anecdote, Ned Sherrin brings both talents to his autobiography, which is sure to delight and engage his many fans.

I read good reviews for this book and enjoyed glancing thru it in a shop but felt disinclined to buy a copy since my name was misspelt in it. Perhaps the publisher could send me one to make amends.
