About the Author

Simon is a student of magic, occultism, and religion since the mid-1960s and the editor of the Necronomicon, Simon was a frequent lecturer for the famed Warlock Shop in Brooklyn and the Magickal Childe Bookstore in Manhattan for more than ten years before his sudden disappearance in 1984, speaking on topics as diverse as religion and politics, occultism and fascism, ceremonial magic, demonolatry, the Tarot, the Qabala, and Asian occult systems. He also conducted private classes for the New York City OTO during this period, with a focus on Enochian magic, "Owandering bishops," and Afro-Caribbean occult beliefs. An ordained priest of an Eastern Orthodox church, Simon has appeared on television and radio discussing such topics as exorcism, satanism, and Nazism. The media events he organized in the 1970s and 1980s -- with rock bands, ritual performances, and celebrity appearances -- helped to promote the "occult renaissance" in New York City. After decades of study in European, Asian, and Latin American cult centers, this book marks his first public appearance in more than twenty years.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Real Powerful Book 3 April 1999
By A Customer
Format:Mass Market Paperback
This book really works I have owned it for a week now and done a few spells most of them worked. The only one that didn't work yet maybe it will who knows. It is a good book for someone who knows what they are doing other good books are Modern Magick by: Donald Michael Kraig, Summoning Spirits by: Konstanios, and The Necronomicon by: Simon. This book is not a toy and is to be taken seriously. I would suggest not to use it for evil because you won't get to enjoy what you did and your family and friends will suffer. If you have any questions or need help e-mail me.

4.0 out of 5 stars Little but...size does not count 4 Jun 2001
By A Customer
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I've been practicing magic(k) for the past eleven years and must confess that this little book came to me as a coincidence (?); while the Necronomicon itself is a fake grimoire, over the years it has accumulated so much energy that by just drawing the sigils and conjuring the spells one can feel that something happens, This book is not for the beginner; one has to have a background in Ceremonial Magick (you're dealing with "entities" here) as the book does not mention casting the circle, the banning of evil energies and so on. Wiccans, if you're an eclectic witch, go for it, you'll find interesting, otherwise, keep away from it. As it recalls some Sumerian demons names you may like to study Sumerian beliefs before you start.

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent text on spell working 21 Sep 1998
By A Customer
Format:Mass Market Paperback
This is an excellent book on the working of spells. Simon gives the fifty names of Marduk as a basis for the working of spells. The spells are easy to work with and do not require exotic ingredients and other hard to find material. This book uses spells instead of evocative magick, which can be dangerous if you dont know what you are doing. This book is NOT a work of fiction, nor is the Necronomicon. These are dangerous books if you dont know what you are doing. I strongly suggest one read a primer on magick first such as Kraigs book, Modern Magick to get grounded in theory and practice. This book is not for armchair magicians. It is for those who seriously want to explore the limitless powers of the human mind. It is claimed that these books are fiction, but no fictional work can give real results. This spellbook works and it works very well. Dont get mixed up with it as a joke. This is serious stuff.

5.0 out of 5 stars A word of caution brothers and sisters . . . 9 Oct 2014
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Greetings Brother/Sister

The Necronomicon refers to the practice of Necromancy; the dark art of conjuring spirits namely, Demons, to execute the bidding of the priest or Necromancer. The modern Necronomicon which is from the same author as this text, was derived from ancient scripts pre-dating the Mayans and ancient Egypt. It was originally written in its own language else its secrets were interpreted by others outside the original cult. The modern Necronomicon is no lie believe me.

As a self confessed practitioner of the Dark Arts (or black magick) upon the Left Hand Path for many years, I have devoted most of my life to the practice of successfully manipulating energies and spirit entities and consider myself to be a master of the field my now. However, the underlying truth exists within the book entitled 'Necronomicon' which must be extracted and transferred to be of any use but in its very essence, this book is of great power. Even as a person who is of great competence within the magick arts, even I do not profess to be fully able or willing to follow Necromancy. It is a very dangerous practice which is often met with the demise or fall of the practitioner because they were not possessing of the required strength either physically or psychologically and here's why:

The art of Necromancy is to raise spirits and demons for the personal gain of the Necromancer or 'Caller'. The art is ancient and of a mammoth undertaking due to the fact that prior to being able to call any spirits or demons by way of performing their individual ritual, one must first master the 7 (seven) gates. The gates reside within the veil between our physical Earth plane and the spirit plane.

5.0 out of 5 stars Be Careful! 5 Feb 2000
Format:Mass Market Paperback
This book is simple, yet to the point. In other words, you could do a lot of harm to others and to your self without putting in that much effort. It's a good resource of information, but I'd urge newcommers to read Buckland's Complete Book Of Witchcraft or The very informative Witchcraft Bible before purchasing this.
A prime volume for the experianced Witch.

3.0 out of 5 stars Beware Dangerous Book 5 Mar 2000
By A Customer
Format:Mass Market Paperback
When i first read this book, i was impressed, but at the same time i was a little scared of it. i was going to use the book but felt the need to ask a more experienced witch what she thought of it, i was told it was pure fabrication and that the necronomicon spellbook was made up and not true. i haven't used this book, but bear in mind that if you ask something of demon, and lets face it, the book is basically demonology, you must expect to pay something in return. There are plenty of other spells you can do to help yourself and others without invoking demons who will help at a price, mainly you.

Format:Mass Market Paperback
I am an Occult Researcher and Magician and I have studied many of Simon's works and those parallel works of Lovecraft and I have known people who have ventured into the realms of the Elder Gods and who have met with catastrophe, but, I know that the answer to being safe is not in tampering with those gates but in doing the rituals correctly and accurately and also in learning how to protect oneself. An understanding of the fifty names as to who they are and their purposes are great but, you must also understand that they have their own agendas as well and are not to be trifled with lightly. They are extrememly powerful!
The one thing that is not mentioned is the fact these entities, if summoned to your presence are first and foremost not easily disposed to being in your service. They will remember being so. The Sumerian Gods are very, very old, and can be very, very overwhelming. SO BE CAREFUL! Learn how to protect yourself first and foremost.
I am not trying to be a wet blanket to you the seeker and your endeavors but, go into these "callings" PREPARED. Be sure to be focused and of a single purpose. If you are going through a crisis time in your life do not do them until you are clear-minded and in control. Emotional instability can work seriously against you. Above all else follow your instincts. Listen to your gut it is usually right and remember above all else to remain grounded.
