Navman 600 Series, 9 April 2005
This review is from: Navman iCN630 Transferable In-Car Satellite Navigation System with Voice Navigation,3D Mapping & Route Guidance Software (Electronics)
I am a new user of sat nav systems but am now a complete convert, over the last 6 months I've used in car sat nav that was factory fitted to a Toyota (this worked wonderfully but was an expensive addition). I've used the Tom Tom system and have just purchased the Navman ICN 635, this is an upgrade of the ICN 630. The Navman is a very easy to use and has had no problem picking up the signal, even when using the Mersey tunnel the signal was picked up again very quickly on exit. I made a trip from Liverpool to an address in Staford, the Navman system took me almost to the front door, in fact if it had taken me any nearer I'd have parked on the front lawn. All in all this system has given me extra confidence in finding places that I might not go to on a daily basis this has helped me to relax more when driving. I would not hesitate in recomending this unit the build quality and ease of set-up is wonderfull I've also downloaded the speed camera locations and now have the benifit of knowing that they are there in advance, giving me plenty of time to ensure that my speed has not crept above the legal limit. All in all this is a wonderfull bit of kit!!!!!

Road safety on your dashboard., 26 Jan 2005
This review is from: Navman iCN630 Transferable In-Car Satellite Navigation System with Voice Navigation,3D Mapping & Route Guidance Software (Electronics)
I purchased the ICN630 (V2) last September whilst on a holiday money-spurge! The product is amazing - clear voice instructions (in a variety of languages and male/female variations), clear maps on the screen (screen still clear on a sunny day), the maps update every second or so with your direction, time left in the journey, distance to next turn, different views of the map (3D is my preference, plus turn-by-turn instructions, plain-map view, and next turn view). What made my decision to purchase this product against the others on the market was:- o Software upgradable - I've just upgraded to V3 and the newer features are very impressive (eg programmable Points of Interest - which have allowed me to upload locations of UK Speed Camera!) o "Back On Track" - which instantly recalculates the best direction to go if I make a wrong turn ... whilst I'm still driving. o Fixed to the dashboard permenantly or fixed to a "sucker" device onto the windscreen to instantly remove it from the car (and put it into another car if you like). Two other reviewers have had problems with the hardware - I, though, have had absolutely no problems over the past 4 months. A bit expensive, yes, but it's changed my driving habits (shorter distances - cheaper motoring costs!) and I feel loads safer on the road.

I purchased my first new navman on 27/1/04 and after a week of use purchased another. I used them to help my light haulage business very useful when they are working...... The second one i purchased stopped talking to me after 5 days and was returned to amazon and within a week i had another which lasted a further 4 days before that stopped talking to me. The following day the first purchase packed up completely (screen faded and stopped talking to me). so in all i have had three i believe they cannot handle heavy usage or the vibration of heavy vehicles. I have found the online support totally useless (customer asks a question they ask you one back!!!)or dont answer e-mails with any urgency. I have now returned my 1 remaining navman to the manufacturers for repair after 30 days use!!! spend the extra and get the garmin 2620 ....it will last
