The item is great and works very well - I have a Navman S70 3D myself and this is my second Navman unit, but as a general note let's have a little think about the typical Rip-Off Britain scam which we continue to put up with and, in true British style, never make a fuss about!

UK map updates are £39.99. Yes, that's right. Compare that to just buying a new unit and wonder why they can't just give you an update when it costs them nothing.
Now I also am off to the USA this year and don't want to pay $70 a week to rent a sat-nav with the rental car because that's crazy, so what are my options?
USA maps to add to the Navman units is £59.99. Yes, you read that right again, £59.99! Fifty Nine Pounds Ninety Nine Pence! Just to download the maps.

Now, lets have a little look on the Walmart web site in the USA to see what happens if I just buy another unit from the supermarket over there when we land. Well, I can buy a similar unit off the shelf at the first Walmart we pass for $59, which is currently £37. Oh, and get this, it includes Free Map Updates for the Lifetime of the unit!

Hmmm...not much to think about really is there.

I've made my feelings known to Navman and hope others do the same, and I really do think it's about time we stopped putting up with being ripped off.

These maps become obsolete very quickly on our roads and that means you are about to be fleeced for new ones. Don't let yourselves be conned.

I am pleased with the large screen as it is easy to read. It finds the signal very quickly and is accurate. It is easy to programme a new destination by postcode or by town.
the downside of this unit is that it doesn't give all instructions e.g. to keep left or right as a result I got lost, but it did find me another route quickly. The other feature missing is it doesn't let you know if you are over the speed limit, it just gives an warning sound (that made me jump the first time I heard it!) The sound general for all warnings e.g. for speed cameras.

nice wide screen, clear 3d display.
there is nothing else I like in this sat nav.
Its slow,slow and slow.
typing letters and your actual location on the map is delayed.
after weaks I learned to co-op with sat nav but not recommended.
my previous sat nav was garmin nuvi 255 and it was much better,

Have just returned this for a refund. The female voices were indecipherable. the POI for where I live listed banks which closed 6 years ago. couldn't get maps to update, software ran for hours but nothing happened. No reply from Mio to my email. Directions were excellent which was a pity as let down by the problems

As a basic sat nav, I really can't find any negatives. One other reviewer said that the female voice was poor, i have had no problems. Intuative set up, but manual is good for those that use those sort of things. Would deffo recommend for the price.

I bought this for my wife who was impressed by it after borrowing it from a friend (who had just driven successfully across France with it). The display map,is very clear and the verbal instructions excellent. It even tells you what lane to be in! And in terms of getting us from A to B it hasn't let us down yet! So that is all good and it also seems reasonably fast at connecting to the satellite which can be an issue with some Sat-Navs. What I don't like, however, is the touch-screen which feels very clunky and often takes several presses before accepting data. The device also feels very light and the build "cheap" and the voice is distorted at high volume. Overall, however, for the price, I would rate this as a good, but not outstanding, buy!

Hi

I noticed the review whereby someone said the goods were not new, so I contacted the three firms who had been advertised by Amazon as selling the M400 to ask if their product was, in fact, actually new. Two out of the three companies said that the M400s are a discontinued item and were factory reconditioned but one company said that they had one brand new and factory sealed product. I am taking this company at their word and have ordered an M400 which I expect to be brand new.

I have given five stars for the honesty of these three companies.

I've now had time to use this a few times and it is really good. The only thing I've noticed is that if a road doesn't change, even if you have to stop at a crossroads with lights, and that road goes off to the left or right after the lights, it doesn't bother to tell you as it doesn't treat it as a 'turn right' or 'left'. Therefore, make sure you keep one eye on the route on screen!!!!!!

Great otherwise...
