The first thing you notice on opening the packaging is the very strong solvent smell - there's certainly no smell of leather and I doubt this has ever seen the hide of a cow...
As others have said, the design is different to that shown in the pictures (I'm uploading a couple so you can see the actual product). It feels good to hold and looks very smart with the contrasting and very neat stitching.
The Kindle fits perfectly in the sleeve with easy access to the buttons and no slippage. Some marks have appeared on the back of the Kindle from the "suede" interior, which I suspect is related to the solvent smell (maybe the dye?).
The lamp feels a bit cheap and plasticky. It takes 3 AAA batteries so the clip is quite bulky. Pressing the little switch on top switches it between 1 or 2 LEDs on or off, and I think it's too easy to turn on in a bag or whatever and run the batteries down.
Overall it's a decent product at a very good price, but should be described more accurately.

I bought this item and although I'd agree that it is a nice cover for a Kindle and won't break the bank it certainly isn't napa leather. It might be what is called bonded leather (mostly vinyl with some leather fibres), but napa it aint. Well mine isn't. If you look closely you'll notice the pictures are of different items too, some of which do appear to be leather, so what you get will be different to some of the items pictured. One picture isn't even of a kindle cover. Mine is not like any of the items pictured and has material on the inside front cover.
Not a bad cover for the cost, but certainly it doesn't appear to be what it claims to be. If you want a REAL leather case I suggest you look elsewhere.

This item is a hard one to review. On one hand I'd give it 1 star (if that). On another it's worth 5*'s so I'll settle at 3 and explain:
This is NOT leather. I suspected as much from reading other's reviews but wanted to confirm that I'm another customer who's received a case that in no, shape or form is Napa leather.
I'd read criticisms of another case on Amazon that made permanent black marks on the back on people's kindles and took pains to find one that has what I needed but didn't do this. Failed. At the time of buying there were no complaints about this that I saw with this case but since that time not only have marks transferred from the case onto the back of my kindle which won't come off, but another reviewer has complained of this...
The reason the above doesn't upset me greatly is my next point - Functionally the case is great and does exactly what I need it to. It fits like a glove, doesn't obscure the buttons, isn't unwieldy or bulky when open or closed and is comfortable to hold in either hand when reading (I fold the cover back behind the kindle, use the latch to hold it there and read one handed). There are a few pockets in the cover for business cards or other plastic cards, although I don't use mine. I don't foresee a need to ever take the cover off my kindle - and over time I'll become so familiar with it the two will become synonymous - so while the marring of the nice shiny silver finish is a shame, it's not the end of the world because I won't have to see it!
My final point is the free light. I was honestly surprised to see it offered in with the cover at such a low price and considered it a bonus which made this object even more worth it over similarly priced and rated covers without. It wasn't worth it. Let me clarify: I'm not stupid and I tend to err on the side of caution with plastic items in case I break them by forcing them too hard - despite this I was completely unable to seal the battery compartment without breaking the prongs off it, rendering it useless. With a little effort and time I was able to tape it closed without it looking too shoddy and the light isn't too heavy, clips on securely and is bright enough to do the job in complete darkness but it's not the nicest looking of things and with the poor battery cover design and material I'd say it's just not worth it. If the light is the sole deciding factor between this case and another, change your mind!
So why 3 stars overall? It does what I need it to do, the 'fixed' light will serve in a pinch (unlikely to need it), it looks OK and let's face it - it's CHEAP!

Leather?
I know leather and I doubt that this is it; for the money it is Ok but really, pay the price if you want the genuine article. You get what you pay for, I guess.
