New Real City3D
Never before have selected major European city centres been replicated in such faithful detail. Streets, buildings with genuine façades, road markings such as zebra crossings and even traffic lights are all displayed in 3D.
New Voice Interaction Pro
All important functions, as well as dialling telephone numbers, can be conveniently performed via voice command, which is activated by a gentle touch of the genuine glass surface. The new generation of Voice Command, Professional Voice Command 2.0, turns your NAVIGON into an intelligent listener. Talk to the system in colloquial sentences, for example, as if you were asking a friend where the nearest Italian restaurant is, or say a telephone number or a contact's name and your NAVIGON will dial for you directly. So you're in control the whole time - almost without having to take your hands from the steering wheel. The NAVIGON 8310 also has a Bluetooth hands-free set so you can make phone calls while driving without infringing the law.

City View3D, Landmark View3D and Panorama View3D
Faster and better orientation due to 3D displays. With City View3D, entire stretches of road can be shown as three-dimensional models. Landmark View3D shows selected points of interest in detailed 3D displays. Panorama View3D assists drivers by producing a realistic image of the environment with terrain elevation.

TMC Routing Info
Traffic warnings are good but intelligent traffic circumnavigation is even better. TMC Routing Info shows you alternative routes and information on the length and duration of the new route compared to the original route. You can then decide whether short traffic congestion might, in fact, be the quicker option after all. Spoken TMC reads congestion announcements out loud so you can’t miss them and they are just as detailed as radio announcements. Text-to-Speech means street names are also spoken out loud ensuring you don’t miss your turning and allowing you to concentrate on the road.

NAVIGON MyRoutes
Whatever kind of driver you are, NAVIGON MyRoutes recommends the best route adapted for your personal driving style as well as the time and day of the week. Up to two other routes are also offered. The Latest Map Guarantee gives you free downloads of the most up-to-date maps from the NAVIGON Fresh portal for 30 days. The FreshMaps service gives you a further eight map downloads over two years for £79.99.

New Pedestrian Navigation
Pedestrians use different routes to drivers and you can use the NAVIGON 8450 LIVE instead of a road map to arrive at your destination on foot - a wrist strap is included for comfortable handling. The NAVIGON 8450 LIVE can act as a personal city guide - pedestrian navigation will ensure that you get to your destination on foot without any unnecessary detours. Unfamiliar signs can be precisely researched and favourite shops or other sights of interest located. The clear and simple portrait format display provides optimal guidance for pedestrians.

New NAVIGON Last Mile
Because not every destination you enter in your navigation system will have a parking space for your vehicle right outside, NAVIGON lets you park the car and be guided the rest of the way safely on foot. It will also guide you back to the car again later. This works very well in combination with the New NAVIGON Clever Parking, which displays the nearest parking options well before arrival, including detailed information such as prices in some cases. These can then be clicked and selected as a destination.
Lane Assistant Pro
NAVIGON includes important safety features as standard across its whole range including Lane Assistant Pro, which displays the best lane to take well in advance of the next junction taking into account three, instead of two, subsequent driving manoeuvres. This means you won’t need to cut across a multi-lane carriageway at the last minute; Reality View Pro, which displays motorway junctions and exits not as lines, but true to detail and realistically with asphalt, road markings and signs; Speed Assistant and Safety Camera, which tell you the current speed limit and warn you with audio and visual warnings if you exceed speed limits and are near a safety camera.

More Valuable Features
Emergency Help tells you within seconds where important locations such as the police, hospitals and more can be found.
Smart Speller only shows you letter combinations which actually make sense - Fzoutxh Street and other such nonsense are now a thing of the past.
3 months of Radar Info updates are included.
Favourites on the map allows you to save and display your personal favourite points of interest. POI Click lets you display a list of all points of interest along with their addresses, opening times and telephone numbers by pressing directly on the screen near the object. You can then set these as a new destination.
Autoswitch between Day & Night Mode. Log book logs all journeys and movements of the vehicle.
NAVIGON sync lets you organise trips and appointments in advance at home on a PC and then simply transfer from the PC to your NAVIGON (you can also transfer addresses from MS Outlook). Co-ordinate Entry offers you the option of entering a destination by its coordinates – a practical alternative when locating campsites for example. The NAVIGON 8410 LIVE is also protected by PIN request so the device is blocked for anyone trying to use or take it without your permission.

Great Sat Nav but too many wires!,
By mak101 (London) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Navigon 8450 5 inch Satellite Navigation with 3D European Maps and Live Services (Electronics)
This is my second sat nav after owning a tom tom. The Navigon screen is large are very clear. Touch screen is great and the menu system is easy to navigate. Voice command is excellent and the added bluetooth works a treat.
The only downside is the live traffic module. When I purchased the Navigon I thought everything was built into the main unit but you have to plug in the live module which in turn means you have wires all over the place. Overall the Navigon is a great system although slightly expensive. If the live module was built into the main unit then I would of given 5/5 stars. Don't be put off though. The live module connects between the lighter socket and the main unit so it might not bother most people.

Navigon 8450,
By Late Nite Reader "Alonso" (SW/UK) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Navigon 8450 5 inch Satellite Navigation with 3D European Maps and Live Services (Electronics)
Ive been through 2 Garmins a 1300t then a 1490t easy to use but unlike my old garmin nuvi 660 the maps especially the 1490t were really lacking detail ie villages etc in other words the surrounding area your going you only see the road your on even @ most detail setting through ok its all kept so simple but yawn so boring !!
Then I got the Navigon 6310 wow what a difference fantastic panoramic view , Terrain hills valleys towns villages a real feeling of where you actually are, but the problem with the 6340 was the smaller screen (4.3 I think)(and so much detail) so reluctantly sent it back to those lovely people @ AMAZON and ordered the NAVIGON 8450 live services model(ordered 2130 thusday eve and it came 8.10 am Sat morning) service or what ! Its the 5" model it comes with all the same bells & whistles this 8450 also has live services ,its not as easy to use as the Garmins but once you get to grips with it (Ime a gadget freak by the way)it a brilliant bit of kit !! My only gripe is (The anti Glare film) for the screen you have to put on yourself ,it only says to keep the little hole on it over the microphone hole bottom left of the screen now ime rather pedantic fussy etc so the screen was spotless ,I put it on so carefully and got dozens of bubbles on it , ime used to doing transfers and the like but even one spec of dust will make it look awful (so of it came) any glare and I will put up with it Ha ! Anyway just a little moan, all in all the NAVIGON 8450 is to me the best money can buy (although not cheap @ a shade under £400)but you get what you pay for. And this one superb bit of kit

Navigon and Bullying Bertha,
This review is from: Navigon 8450 5 inch Satellite Navigation with 3D European Maps and Live Services (Electronics)
I have been using a Garmin Aviation GPS with road mapping for about ten years, for both flying and on the roads, so have experience with GPS Nav. I purchased the Navigon 8450 just before a trip to deliver an aircraft by road to Lithuania. I had no time to do more than glance at the "idiot guide" before I left, so almost certainly did not get full benefit from this equipment. Nevertheless, it worked fantastically well. In one small box, I had a good hands-free adaptor for my mobile phone, a clock that automatically kept me up to date with the time zones I crossed, oh- yes, and a brilliant GPS. "Bullying Bertha" told me of any traffic problems ahead, and automatically recalculated the route if they were severe enough. She warned me of sharp bends, she told me if I was exceeding the speed limit, she even told me which lane to be in at road junctions. She also told me where fuel could be bought nearby, and when I could expect to arrive at my days destination. After the first rather sceptical hour with her, I never looked at a map, just relied on the GPS. The unit is a bit expensive, but well worth the money. You do not need to take the wife with you, Bertha is the ideal back-seat driver. A friend of mine has even converted his for Aviation use, which will be my next project with it. But first, I really must read the manual!
