Manufacturer's Description

Navigon 7310: The 3D navigator that obeys your every word

City View 3D and Landmark 3D displays roadside building in major cities in 3D
Panorama View 3D shows the landscape with hills, valleys, tunnels and everything else.
3D Views

City View 3D displays roadside building in major cities in 3D. This provides a better overview and assists orientation throughout your journey.

Panorama View 3D shows the landscape with hills, valleys, tunnels and everything else.

Landmark View 3D renders important landmarks in detailed 3D - so that you won't drive past the real ones when traffic is hectic.

Professional Voice Command

Not only can you select the destination comfortably and accurately by voice entry, but you can also perform important functions such as selecting the menu or controlling the volume.

Navigon MyRoutes

Whatever kind of driver you are, Navigon MyRoutes recommends the best route adapted for your personal driving style as well as the time and day of the week. Up to two other routes are also offered.

Reatlity View Pro enables the drive to see a realistc simulation of a road
Reality View Lite and Lane Assistant Pro

Reality View Lite shows roads not as lines, but realistically, with asphalt and road markings. This makes it easier for you to maintain an overview of motorway junctions and exits.

Lane Assistant Pro displays the best lane to take well in advance of the next junction taking into account three, instead of two, subsequent driving manoeuvres – so you won’t need to cut across a multi-lane carriageway at the last minute.

Traffic information features give you alternative routes when there is congestion
Traffic Information and Speed Assistant

TMC Routing information shows you an alternative route when traffic congestion is announced, with an updated distance calculation and arrival time. You decide if a diversion is worthwhile or if you would like to keep to the original route.

The speed assistant and safety camera tells you the current speed limit and warns you with audio and visual warnings if you exceed speed limits and are near a safety camera.

Real Roadsign Pro

A road sign to match the road features appears on your display - for example, when sharp bends, strong winds or slippery stretches are expected.

Clever parking helps you to find a parking spot
Clever Parking

Clever parking helps you to find a parking spot by displaying nearby parking areas shortly before reaching your destination.

Text-to-Speech and Bluetooth hands-free kit

Text-to-Speech not only reads out distances, but also the names of roads and exits - to ensure that you can concentrate on the road.

Bluetooth hands-free kit links your mobile phone with your NAVIGON, so that you can use your phone hands-free easily and safely via the large display.

4.0 out of 5 stars The best GPS? Almost! 3 Aug 2009
After having ordered and cancelled this item on Amazon due to zero stock I obtained mine directly from Navigon - oh and it then cost 20 more plus p&p. So buy it from Amazon!!!

The unit itself is feature packed. Traffic TMC is great, voice recognition works well as does Bluetooth phone integration (with all contacts seamlessly transferred) with my Sony Ericsson W595. The 3D landscaping is pretty good too! The powerful processor (600MHz is just right) and the start up pretty quick.

Now for the bit all you potential buyers want - the critique!

When viewing maps - the roads are graphically a little thin and the text for roadnames a little small (for a 4.3" screen). When (auto) zoomed out it is difficult to use the device for seeing in detail the minor curves in the road ahead - although it does zoom in on larger curves. The curve warning feature sometimes operates a liitle late for my liking especially with the verbal warning.

I personally don't like being tied in to speed cameras from the supplier of the GPS either.

Oh - and the unit I have seems to reset 2 or 3 times a day - especially after removing power, power cycling or looking at the traffic information. Most annoying as it then forgets the traffic downloaded until it recaptures the information again from the FM transmitter. And I have used the Navigon Fresh software - for which there are no updates yet available (at time of writing).

All in all it's a pretty good GPS implementation. Just could do with customisable zooming, customisable colours, more than two voice choices, longer battery life (I only get 1.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good locator performane - better than tom tom 19 Nov 2009
Have justed tested this device against a Tom TOm 940 Live in london, and i feel the Navigon is a much better device for 2 reasons:
    1) Locator performance. The Tom Tom lost GPS signal far more often than the Navigon.
    2) Map quality and guidance. I found the map, turn by turn arrows lane guidance much more useful and easier to follow than the tom tom.

The Navigon has far more map features than the Tom TOm device which i liked. The traffic info is easy to use (and again i found it easier than the Tom Tom). I was a little confused when i first go the system if the TMC would work in the UK, but it does. You just need to have the power lead plugged into the vehicle (as this is also the antenna for the TMC). The Tom TOm IQ Routes software did appear to pick better / quicker routes though.

On the negative side, i found when entering an address, you need to use the local suburb name and not the city name, which does casue some problems.

Tom Tom's focus seems to be on all of its LIVE services which you have to pay for and personally i feel dont improve the actual navigation system. Where as the Navigon, has far more map / guidance features.

5.0 out of 5 stars Strongly recommended 12 Sep 2009

I have spent hours to compare various GPS systems; I have finally chosen the Navigon 7310 and I really do not regret this choice
I had a Tom Tom for 3 years and really I can see a difference

What I appreciate the most in this Navigon is the reality view pro, the incredible number of POI, the quality of the graphics (I am not talking about the city view which is just a gadget almost never used)and the easiness of the use and the navigability

What is not really needed is the bend warning (that I have deactivated). Finally, it is a detail but the remaining time to destination is very optimistic ... sometimes unrealistic

    A great GPS strongly recommended

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly Recommended 5 Dec 2009
    Verified Purchase
I have recently purchased a TomTom XL IQ routes and a Garmin Nuvi 1310 - both of which were disappointing, the reasons for which are numerous. I travel extensively in my work and need accurate mapping with a useful feature set.
I decided to try the 7310 and can report that it out performs the TomTom/Garmin in almost every area. Here's why:

    - Excellent and very accurate Navteq mapping (as used by Garmin).
    - Maps of Europe.
    - Comprehensive feature set including voice command.
    - Stunning map display that shows the surrounding terrain as you see it.
    - Easy navigation on motorways and complex junctions with lane assist etc.
    - Speaks street names.
    - Free traffic info, although this service can be hit and miss.
    - 2 years worth of map updates for 14.00!! (a bargain).
    - Solid build quality and a slick (if bulky) mount.

There are a few niggles that take the shine of a very capable device. These include: not being able to enter a house number after a postcode (you can navigate to a house number after specifying city & street name). The voice command can sometimes be frustrating when specifying your destination as it can struggle to understand you. The system can be slow to find a signal or refresh the display. Batter life is poor, necessitating use of the power adapter if your journey is more than an hour or so. Finally, bluetooth hands free performance could be better.

Even with these niggles; I would say that the 7310 offers much better value for money than other manufacturers. Highly recommended.
