5.0 out of 5 stars Philips Navigator, never get lost again 7 April 2005
Having read other reviews, I agree that the navigator is bulky, heavy, and doesn't fold flat. This is for a very good reason, it's the most clear mapping of any atlas ever. Short of OS, you won't get a better driver aid to get you from A-B in the quickest way possible.

I'm fed up with spending £1.99 on cheap atlases I pick up at petrol stations or garden centres, they're only useful if you want to use M, A and B roads. If you need a map that is capable of taking you off the beaten track, the Navigator will do it.

The only other alternative of course is GPS.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Atlas but M6 toll missing 29 Mar 2004
By A Customer
This is an excellent detailed atlas - including full details of motorway junctions with slip roads on the main maps. However the new M6 Toll road which opened in Dec 2003 is only shown as a dotted line without junction detail. If you need this area, best to track down the second 2003 printing (which was amended to show the new road) or wait for it to be revised.

4.0 out of 5 stars The best atlas for inland boaters 27 Aug 2003
Philip's Navigator is undoubtedly the best road atlas to have aboard narrowboats and river boats. Other road maps show all A&B roads, but only Navigator seems to show tracks, canal locks, and even farm and estate names. One of the trickiest operations for boaters is making a rendezvous with a car driver in the country, and Navigator is by far the easiest for doing this.

However, as with most road maps it remains ridiculously large in size (how come road atlases are always too large to hold behind the car steering wheel?), and there isn't a hardback version available.

For boating purposes I cut the pages out and have them laminated. Very useful in the rain!
