Amazon.co.uk Review

With two solid seasons already banked, NCIS returns for a compelling third year with exciting plotlines and a slightly tweaked cast. The show's second season ended with the brutal and shocking death of Caitlin Todd (Sasha Alexander). The first two episodes of this season deal with the aftermath of bringing her killer to justice and examining the emotional impact of her loss on the remaining members of the NCIS team, which is led by Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon). The six-disc set includes all 24 episodes, which aired on CBS during 2005-2006. Returning are happy-go-lucky ladies' man Tony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly, Dark Angel), forensics expert and resident Goth chick Abby Sciuto (Pauley Perrette), medical examiner Dr. Donald "Ducky" Mallard (David McCallum, The Man from U.N.C.L.E), and agent Timothy McGee (Sean Murray). Former Mossad intelligence officer Ziva David (Cote de Pablo) joins the close-knit cast, as does Jennifer Shepard (Lauren Holly, Dumb & Dumber) as the new NCIS director. Working on a daily basis with Shepard initially makes Gibbs wary. Not only is she a former girlfriend, but she also was his underling at one time. Equal parts CSI and JAG, NCIS works primarily because of its quirky cast, which is able to take sometimes regurgitated ideas and rework them into something engagingly watchable. Throughout this season, we will see agents endangered and framed, and one will accidentally kill an undercover detective who may not have been armed. But the explosive two-part season finale will finally shed light on Gibbs' painful history and help explain why he is who is he today. --Jae-Ha Kim

Hits the mark! 7 Sep 2007
By Rory Mercer VINE™ VOICE
Format:DVD
Finally, some special features! The Region 2 versions of season one and season two were just six disks of episodes (4 on each, 3 on the last disk). However eventually we have got through to the publishers and have got the following special features on a bonus disk:

*The Real NCIS Declassified
*Hit The Head Montage
*The Round Table
*The Women of NCIS
*NCIS, Season of Change

Aside from the special features, the box sets are very well designed (matching the other two and looking very nice on my shelf! Parents are warned that, as with all of the episodes, I would advice you to watch them first as they can be exceptionally gory sometimes. Quality is excellent and the plots are as good as ever.

As a side note this season sees the sub plot of Terroris 'Ari Huswari' come to a very dramatic end. As such I would recommend seeing seasons 1 and 2 first (available from Amazon). If you don't want to buy the full season I suggest you see:

*Episode 16: Bete Noire (SEASON ONE)
*Episode 23: Revelle (SEASON ONE)
*Episode 23: Twilight (SEASON TWO)

Those episodes introduce Ari and the first part of the third season wouldn't really make much sense to someone who had not seen them.

Thanks very much for reading!

Still excellent 5 Oct 2007

*season 2 spoiler*

I think this has been the best series so far! I was expecting the departure of Kate to be the beginning of the end, but instead it added more depth to the show. More of the characters back stories are skillfully revealed in this series, and the new character Ziva is definately as good as Kate. Plus Im glad they are still doing entertaining self-contained episodes, and there's thankfully no sign of them starting to take themselves too seriously. It was watching this season I realised just how addictive NCIS is. I can't wait for season 4. Yay for cheesy American TV!

I first started watching NCIS (seasn 3) on Channel 5 earlier this year. Within 5minutes I thought 'this is brilliant'. I believe that it is a lot better (and more realistic) than the CSI franchise. Now in it's 9th season on Sky channel FX, it has found its groove and is still extremely enjoyable to watch (it has been since season 1).

Season 3 begins where season 2 left off, Kate has been killed by Ari and the team are after vengence. Mossad Officer Ziva Davide joins the team at the start of the 3rd season as well as a new female director who knows Gibbs fairly well. Ziva and Tony get on in a similar way to how he and Kate did, although Kate and Tony's relationship was more brother-sister.

A must for all NCIS fans and for those who want a change from the strange and at times far fetched CSI series.

NCIS great as always, dvd-box itself could be better!
The content of the NCIS season itself is just great as always. I just love the concept and the, very critical to this series, dry and sarcastic humour! Read more

NCIS Season 3
Not bad as pretty mindless enjoyment but it lacks some of the science and believability of say the CSI series. Some characters are so steroeotyped as to be actually cringe-worthy.

Excellent
Excellent performances from the cast, brilliant script writing. NCIS is one of the best shows on TV and season 3 is every bit as good (if not better) than the previous 2 seasons. Read more
