More About the Author

Lora Leigh lives in the rolling hills of Kentucky, often found absorbing the ambience of this peaceful setting. She dreams in bright, vivid images of the characters intent on taking over her writing life, and fights a constant battle to put them on the hard drive of her computer before they can disappear as fast as they appeared. Lora's family, and her writing life co-exist, if not in harmony, in relative peace with each other. Surrounded by a menagerie of pets, friends, and a teenage son who keeps her quick wit engaged, Lora's life is filled with joys, aided by her fans whose hearts remind her daily why she writes.
She can often be found daydreaming and plotting and planning with the varied characters that fill her imagination when she isn't planning her flower gardens, watching the horses romp outside her home, or spending time with the family and pets she fills her life with. Writing is her passion, her peace, and her lifeline. She hopes you enjoy the stories, and that you visit her website www.loraleigh.com often for updates and news on characters and upcoming books

By ROROBLU'S MUM TOP 500 REVIEWER VINE VOICE
Format:Paperback
I've just finished reading and reviewing Lora Leigh's latest in the Bound Hearts series, and for the first time posted a less than stellar review and I was starting to wonder if she was just turning into a book-churning machine, putting shoddy works out to satisfy a publisher's demands...then I read this book. All I can say is thank you Lora Leigh for writing what is the hottest (in terms of bed action!) Nauti books, and for opening up the series to more novels/novellas.

Caitlin Walker, known as Rogue, owns and runs a bar in Pulaski County, home to the Nauti boys, though she is a trained teacher. A few years ago, some fabricated incriminating ménage-sex pictures of her surfaced and she was forced to leave teaching, though she refused to leave the town, as evil incestuous Nadine and Dayle Mackay (see prev books, they are now dead) had planned. She's spent five years trying to seduce the sheriff, Zeke Mayes, to no avail, as unknown to her, Zeke has a hidden agenda and can't and won't allow himself to go public with any woman in order to protect them. He sleeps with women, though, making it clear there will never be a relationship, and though he likes Rogue and has never believed the rumours about her and the pictures, he has never allowed himself to get close to her. His mother died due to an unsavoury part of his childhood and his wife was killed due to an investigation he was involved in in LA, which is why he returned to Kentucky, and he has a teenage son to protect.

I've now read all the Nauti books. I've read the Seals series, the August series and some of her short stories. I usually love her stuff. It's raucous and raunchy. The men are totally alpha and the girls are feisty (but give in in the end). The sex is fantastic! But Lora, PLEASE stop telling us who people are related to ALL THE TIME during the book. AND using first and surnames ALL THE TIME! As if we won't know - by the FIFTEENTH REFERENCE in one chapter. I exaggerate but good lord, woman, we're not stupid! It's so irritating! Christine Feehan did it in her Carpathian 'Dark' series and that was irritating. Even if you haven't read the previous Nauti offerings, which, don't get me wrong, are great, for me, this plot was sidelined by the constant reference to the relationships between the characters, which only needed mentioning two or three times AT THE MOST per character (just to embed it in our memories) at the most! We would have gotten it!

Let me illustrate: the plot is set in a close-knit community in Somerset, Kentucky. Everyone knows everyone else. The lead characters involved are the 'Nauti Boys' - hence the series, cousins Rowdy, Dawg and Natches Mackay and they've each had their own story. There's Alex Jansen and his sister, Crista. The boy's evil aunt Nadine Grace Mackay and her brother Dale Mackay. In this book, which centres on the simmering relationship between 'Sheriff Zeke Mayes and Caitlin 'Rogue' Walker Lora would write a dialogue between two people within the community, saying things like: "Crista Jansen Mackay's brother, Alex Jansen", and: "Nadine Grace Mackay's brother, Dale Mackay", when she's already mentioned it 4 or 5 times previously. WHY??? Who, within a close-knit community would talk like that?

5.0 out of 5 stars soooooooo good!!! 4 Feb 2010
By Liz - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I won't bother recapping because the other reviewers did such a good job of that. Yes, it might have had a similar flow to it as the previous books did but it was still unique in its own way. When I read the last one, Janey and Alex's story, we got a good glimpse of Zeke and Rogue. I could tell she was going to be a wild one. A real rebel. After reading about her past and what was done to her, I didn't blame her for feeling like digging her heels in and snubbing her nose at what the town thought of her. However, I was worried that she might be the quintessential "bratty" female in the story which can sometimes be sooooo irritating. Huge chip on her shoulder and nothing but trouble.

However, LL did a great job of writing a tough and stubborn female with a beautifully vulnerable and squishy side too. We never had to wonder if she wanted Zeke all these years. She loved him and wanted him. He was the really stubborn one. But we also LOVE those alpha males too, don't we ladies!? Zeke was incredibly sexy and tough and protective and just plain yummy!!! Their journey was, for sure a rocky one, but immensely satisfying. I mean, if you really know LL's work you'd know that these stories are never smooth sailing. They are jam packed with pain, frustration, agony, etc..... before we get to the creamy filling.

I've read all of LL's work and every one of her series are unique. You don't walk away feeling the same way after every story. I have to say, I absolutely love all of her stories. However, I hadn't had the tummy flips and hot flashes like I had with this one, in a long time. It was intensely sexy and moving. The love scenes......whew!!! I hadn't been affected like this in a long time. I think Zeke's dark and intense needs paired with Rogue's innocence and her need to fly free and let go were a perfect combination. His fear that he might be too much for her and her ability to absolutely match him and each one of his sexual demands, regardless of her inexperience, was incredibly hot. A very satisfying story..... but hopefully not "ending" to the series...?... Am I the only one who felt like the epilogue almost sounded like it was "closing things out"?.... I hope I am wrong.... But I don't know who could be next... Perhaps the Nauti Girls?.... for those of you who have not read it.... you will find out what I mean!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Well, well, it actually had a plot - 3.5 stars 11 April 2011
By Tracy Vest - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Caitlyn (aka "Rogue") is a virginal schoolteacher who made an enemy of evil town bully Dayle Mackay and his lover/sister Nadine which resulted in her getting fired from her school due to some racy photos. Fast forward five years and freedom fighters Dayle and Nadine are dead, and Rogue is now a "bar whore" (but still a virgin), running the local biker bar. The suspicious deaths of her cousins and their grandma has the sexy town sherrif Zeke wondering if maybe the executioner (who killed his wife and mother years earlier) is still left in town and after Rogue. Despite his fear that his sexual practices are too deviant for her due to her innocence, the two start a torrid affair while he investigates the crimes. Will Zeke be able to uncover the identity of the executioner before he claims Rogue as his next victim?

Welcome to the wonderful world of Lora Leigh where the heroines are always virginal doormats who save themselves for cavemen who like back door service. I always purchase a Leigh novel with a little trepidation since most of her plots are so recycled and laughable... yet I still come back because I cannot resist a bad boy and a hot story. I actually liked this story more than the rest of her "virgin in jeopardy" stories because the action is not just inside the bedroom - there is actually a plot to go with this story and I was pleasantly shocked at the identity of the culprit. Now if she could just get off her virgin kick... and hire a proofreader.

The rest of the series:
Nauti Boy (Berkley Sensation)
Nauti Nights (Berkley Sensation)
Nauti Dreams (The Nauti Trilogy, Book 3)
Nauti Intentions (Nauti Boys, Book 4)

3.0 out of 5 stars Wanting More.... 16 Feb 2010
By Katie Reader - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I read all of Lora Leigh's books, but I've reached the point of some frustration. I like her men, but she seems to stick to her formula and not really explore the type of relationship she keeps hinting. This book is a perfect example of this. It was obvious that the man had some "dark deep needs" and that the woman was willing to be submissive sexually, although she lead a full and real life outside the bed. However, aside from hinting at this and throwing in some silly lines, like "I should spank your for that" Ms. Leigh does not actually explore the topic in any meaningful way. Sweet Persuasion by Maya Banks does explore this issue and I wish that Ms. Leigh would take her great talent and wonderful characters to the realm of more than make believe and write for the educated adult. You'll still enjoy the book, but may be frustrated when you turn the last page.

5.0 out of 5 stars 5 Blue Ribbons from Romance Junkies! 2 Feb 2010
By Natalie S - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Lora Leigh continues her highly successful NAUTI series with the story of Sheriff Zeke Mayes and Rogue Walker. Sparks fly between these two enticing characters as Zeke finds out exactly how wild Rogue Walker can be.

Caitlyn "Rogue" Walker has always wanted to be a teacher and has even succeeded. She is a teacher in Somerset, Kentucky and loves every minute of it. That is, until she crosses the wrong people - Dayle Mackay and his deviant lover, Nadine Grace. With one mistake, Caitlyn is set up, and when pictures of her are put on the internet in a ménage a trios, Caitlyn's teaching career comes to a grinding halt. It is then that Rogue Walker is born.

Independent, outspoken and hot to trot, Rogue is a bad girl come to life and every man's dream. She answers to no one, and that is the way she likes it. She stirs up trouble with the best, and while she hides her vulnerability behind her cocky attitude, Sheriff Zeke Mayes knows that there is more to Rogue Walker. And he is willing to delve deep enough to find out what it is. That is when the trouble starts.

Rogue is my hero. Free spirited and tough as nails, she embodies the strength of a woman. Her heart is full of sadness at the change in her life, but she does her best to make the most of her decisions. Zeke, however, is the one man she isn't willing to give up. She has adored him for years, and while he thinks he is not the man for her, Rogue is just as determined to capture this elusive sheriff's heart. Zeke's feelings for Rogue are hard for Zeke to accept; he is older than her by a few years. But love knows no boundaries, and Zeke finds himself mesmerized by and in love with the woman called Rogue.

Completely blown away by this surprising story, I could not put NAUTI DECEPTIONS down. The suspenseful plot line kept me guessing as to the antagonist of the story, and before I knew it, I had read this entire novel in one sitting. Lora Leigh has spun a smoldering hot tale of secret passion and erotic deceptions. Zeke and Rogue's love story is chock full of scintillating sex and delicious romantic encounters. I can't wait for NAUTI DECEPTIONS to release - it is just that evocative!

4.0 out of 5 stars 4 stars 9 Mar 2010
By KindleVixen - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Lora Leigh is my guilty pleasure. Her books are candy for my smut loving self. But even I have been left feeling a bit "blah" over her last few releases. They were ok, but something was missing for me. I went into this book expecting the same and expecting to be bored because Zeke and Rogue never really appealed to me in the previous books. I was also a little wary of the ongoing terrorist suspense plot. While Nauti Deceptions isn't perfect, I was surprised to find I really enjoyed it.

In previous Nauti books Rogue was never very interesting to me. I can't explain why, but I actually thought she was older than she actually is. I always thought of her as a bit standoffish and brutish and I wasn't really sure what we would get from her story. This is one of those books I am so thankful for multiple points of view. I really loved getting into Rogue's head and found myself liking her almost immediately. She is smart, tough as nails, stubborn, sarcastic, and yet vulnerable - something I never expected.

Zeke, oh what can I say about Zeke. He could be my favorite "nauti boy", he was definitely the most alpha so far. He is very overprotective and totally aggravating at times, but somehow I was able to overlook that. It probably has something to do with this dirty mouth and tendency to growl - its a weakness of mine.

The romance between Rogue and Zeke was intense. I was on the edge of my seat more than once, my stomach in knots as I wondered if this would be the time they really connected or not. The romantic tension between them was some of Leigh's best and the loving was so hot I had to check my breathing to keep from hyperventilating.

My only complaint is the suspense plot, it was weak and felt overdone. I feel like the terrorist organization in this tiny town plot is being dragged on and on and on through book after book in this series. If there is another Nauti Boy book I hope she finds a new angle to work the subplot through because this one can't take another novel.

Overall, Nauti Deceptions showcases Lora Leigh's sizzling romantic tension at it's best. If you are a fan of the series, definitely do not skip this one.
