Buy This Book Before Making A Business Decision, Ladies! 14 Oct. 2006
By O. Brown - Published on Amazon.com

****

This is a great introductory book about what an adult sex toy business for women involves. It is strictly for a woman who is interested in distributing sex toys via the party plan method in an extremely tasteful way (as opposed to a sleezy or crude way). It would not be helpful for men who wish to start this type of business, as the book is written strictly for women. It also would not be helpful to a woman who is interested in selling hard-core adult sex products in the ways men have traditionally sold such products to each other (via pornographic sites, adult book stores, etc.) This is for the "new way" of marketing sexual aids to women, via romance, self-empowerment, and selling "sexual fulfillment"---techniques that are unique to this business of woman-to-woman sales.

The book covers MLMs and already established party plans. It also covers starting your own business from scratch. It compares the different costs and benefits of each method of business.

The greatest value of this book is that it covers what it's really, really like to be in the adult sex toy business, things I'd never thought of, like customer returns, liability and local laws, product delivery and privacy, control of guests at parties (yes, they can get rowdy!), the hard work and commitment necessary to be successful, and more. It really opened my eyes, changing my idea of the adult sex toy business as something that seemed like a fun and funky idea to the harsh realities of operating such a business. It is not a discouraging book, just a realistic book. It helps you to evaluate if you are the type of person that would truly enjoy the day-to-day operations of "having a romance business" (a popular euphemism for this business) before you run out and spend several hundred to over a thousand dollars to buy a kit from a company.

It is written by the two women who started Lady Bliss, a popular adult sex toy party plan, and details the often humorous experiences they ran into. As you might imagine, it comes off as being a little biased towards joining a party plan versus starting your own party plan, but just a little; this is a little natural, since this is the author's business. The authors cover several other party plans as well as sharing their own experiences starting their own, so you definitely get enough information to make a good decision and get started in your own research, saving you lots of time and even more money.

This book is a fun read (as you can tell by the cover) even if you don't plan on ever starting a business, but are just curious. If you are thinking of starting a "romance business", you'd be wise to buy this book; I'm certain you won't be sorry.

Naughty Girls Night In 8 Feb. 2008
By W. Wilson - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
The book covered the subject very well. Even though I've been in the business for over 3 years, I learned some things. My only complaints are:

1 - Too much emphasis on MLM party companies and not enough on starting your own company.
2 - Many of the websites given for products were no longer viable URL's. One was viable, but it only showed a catalog, no contact info or pricing.

All in all, it was worth the price.

Cute little book, well written, and lots of sound advice! 29 Jan. 2008

My girlfriend and I are considering doing passion parties as a fun side business. So I bought this book (apparently the only one out there addressing this subject) and found it to be very well written. A lot of topics are addressed, and a lot of sound advice is given. The index at the back of the book is thorough and easy to use, and there's even a short directory of manufacturers provided as well.
Start your own "At Home" Adult Toy Business...EASY! 12 Mar. 2011

A good reference book to have for those interested in starting (or looking to improve) their own "adult toy" parties. Well written and a good read, even the more basic information is presented in a clever way with a "think outside of the box" mentality. The book is inspirational & witty without being pretentious. Lots of really good ideas!

Can't wait to put it to good use!

Doesn't work as well for guys. 9 Mar. 2011
By Timboliah PantsOnFiyah - Published on Amazon.com

I guess you could say that I have recently developed an entrepreneurial spirit. Sometimes I just get tired of working for a paycheck and thoughts of starting my own business have become more frequent.

I know that sex toy parties are all the rage now and when I saw this book on amazon, I thought 'Hey... now THAT sounds pretty good! "Naughty Girl's Night In Parties" yeah, I think I could suffer thru hosting a few of those'... a lewd little grin flashing crossing my lips.

It turns out that alot of gals aren't exactly "comfortable" with the idea spending an evening in the company of a 45 year old heterosexual male trying to sell them dildos. I *know* what you're thinking... don't let that stop you! Take them to the Supermarket and setup a table by the front door hawking them to customers as they enter and exit. Give the Girlscouts and their cookies a little competition down at the Piggly Wiggly. Yeah, I thought the same thing. Apparently their are some "uptight" shoppers in my neighborhood... not to mention an antiquated 'obscenity' law on the books in my town. Who knew??
