I have african-american hair. I've colored and permed my hair, therefore, it is dry...but not damaged. I decided to use this product because it claimed to "smooth split ends and moisturize distressed locks." It also claims to "leave hair vibrant, healthy looking and beautiful." What a bunch of crock! First off, the smell was awful...didn't like it one bit, but I figured I would give it a shot since it's supposed to be good for your hair. I used it 2 times.
The first time, not too impressed...it left my hair feeling dry. A lot more dry that I'm used to with other products that I've used in the past. The 2nd time I used it, I heard a "crackling" sound as I was combing my wet hair (and when dry). I knew that my hair began breaking off at the roots. There must have almost been a good handful of hair that had broken off. Most of it was at the crown. I've never had that reaction with a shampoo before.
Apparently I didn't rinse the "Nair" product enough because it left my hair even dryer and began breaking my hair as if I had bleached my hair platinum blonde. I threw away the bottle immediately.
It's been over a year and I can still see shorter pieces of hair mixed in with my shoulder length hair. To this day, I'm still losing hair due to breakage because of this product. Even though I deep condition and hot oil every week...I'm still dealing with EXTREMELY damaged hair that feels like hay on my head. Definitely did not leave my hair vibrant or healthy looking. Lost all the shine and luster that I had prior to using this product.
Do not use this product if you use any other chemicals in your hair. I think that the Ph balance is off and it is only for people that don't have ANY chemicals in their hair...and that would be children, but watch out, it burns the heck out of your eyes. I'm back using Dove and Suave...and never had a problem with those products. As a matter of fact, they helped to keep the breakage down to a minimum. And as for shine and vibrancy...well, it's only at the root now (about 2 inches of it).
