For each month of the year, this book features 10 suggested locations which are each described over one or two pages with photos and a small map.
The book would be easier to dip into if each location had a concise heading telling you why you would go there. For example, North Uist is recommended for October but you have to read through three long paragraphs to discover why (I think that late spring would be better anyway). The descriptions that I have read seem to be the result of a single visit to the place in question.
The real disappointment is in the quality of the paper and the printing. The matte paper has a cheep feel to it and seems to have affected the colour and contrast of the photos. The photos don't look sharp either.
I would not recommend this book as a present as it may well disappoint.

Having watched the series on the television I recently decided, somewhat belatedly, to buy the book. It arrived in good time and in good condition and I am positive many hours of pleasure will be derived from reading the book and also visiting the places mentioned. Excellent.

This is a great starting place for visiting your local area and locating wildlife. I wasn t aware of the huge variety of wildlife in the U.K. until I read this book. Who needs to go abroad to see amazing sights??
