5.0 out of 5 stars Can't Wait For The Album 23 Aug 2004
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
'Nature Boy' is a deceptively conventional sounding song, a little reminiscent of Steve Harley's 'Make Me Smile'. However, after a few listens it gets right under your skin. And although Cave's lyrics here often seem a little awkward or forced (as they often do), they still add an extra dimension to the proceedings. In fact, when you think about it, who else is even capable of writing half-decent lyrics in the world of rock music? Probably a handful of artists. I also can't think of anyone apart from Cave who has produced such unfailingly consistent material for the last 20 years, and this song suggests that the new album will be at least the equal of its predecessors i.e. in a class of its own.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nature Boy Delivers - Naturally!! 15 Sep 2004
By tarrun
Format:Audio CD
Nick Cave has again produced two songs of the very highest quality. "Nature Boy" is probably the most up-beat Bad Seeds song ever, but don't think Cave's gone pop. His voice and the lyrics are the perfect foil to the music, and the difference in styles really make it a memorable song. You will soon be singing it alongside his other classics! However, the real beauty of this single is "She's leaving You". Nature Boy is like the warm up to this absolutely amazing song. Buy this single, and enjoy Nick Cave at his best!

5.0 out of 5 stars one of Nick's best songs 25 Sep 2004
By Bryant Burnette - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
This CD has only two songs on it, but they are both dead awesome, so I feel like my money was well spent.

"Nature Boy," in my opinion, is one of Nick's best songs to date (and that's saying a lot, coming from me). It reflects a slightly more rock/pop sensibility than is typically the case with Cave's music; it's upbeat, maybe even a little optimistic, and if I had to compare it to another Cave song, I guess I'd go with "Bring It On." This one's better than "Bring It On" by far, though.

The b-side, "She's Leaving You" (which is NOT on the forthcoming album), is a gem, a gritty little rocker that would be right at home on "Let Love In." The lyrics are excellent, and the Bad Seeds turn in some of their best and most vigorous playing in quite some time.

If you're a Cave fan, this is an essential purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nature Boy 10 Dec 2004
By Braeden P. Jeffery - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
You can't help but admire Nick Cave, if only for one reason. Where other recording artists are content to slap demos and remixes on their b-sides, Cave delivers often-album-quality tracks on his flips, and this is no exception. "She's Leaving You" is thunderous, totally live (complete with a count-in by Jim Sclavunos, by the sounds of it) and like nothing you've ever heard Nick sing before. Mick Harvey's guitars wail, Sclavunos' drums rock and Casey's bass-line is stunning. This is a song that is worth getting this single for.

"Nature Boy" is an edited version of the song (missing the last verse), which is a bit disappointing, but hey, it's still a great track, and a brilliant taster of "Abbatoir Blues". Get this single while you still can.
