I was developing problems in my elbow and shoulder from slouching on the desk over the mouse and keyboard.
Dragon lets me enter text as fast as I could type but without the stress on my limbs.
The learning and correction feature are great in this version and I have expanded the vocabulary Draggon understands to suit my area of research.
And much more, I can have my emails read to me in a voice I can understand and then I can dictate a response, seems like I just got a Personal assistant as well.

Dragon still seems to be be about the only realistic option for voice to text and each version seems to get a little cheaper and a little better.
Having tinkered with the Windows 7 offering and Tazti I decided it was maybe worth spending some money and get some proper software. Amazon did have the basic software available for a really good price but I decided to opt for the premium version as it seemed to offer proper management of profiles, plus it is still probable that I could be using a voice recorder with my studies (plus Premium gives you Excel and Powerpoint capabilities which might just be useful). The basic Home version is probably perfectly adequate for most users who only want to use if for dictation into Word (and can be had a really good price if your patient) but you may want to have a good look at the features of each before deciding as it isnt really all that clear.
So far I have been using it for basic dictation into Word and Outlook which has proven to be remarkably accurate straight out of the box (with some basic training). This review you are reading here only took a few moments to write - and it was actually quite good fun to do, if I had had to type it my dodgy to finger typing that kept me busy for sometime.
Where I am still learning is the more sophisticated controls (for example aspects of controlling the PC or how text is presented/formatted etc) and making quick corrections as I dictate. What does feel amazing is being able to sit here and talk, and the words just appear on the screen as if by magic. For longer pieces of work and keeping a journal (which I simply couldn't be bothered to do previously) this is simply marvellous.
One thing that did concern me with some of the user reviews who had problems with Nuance customer services and particularly registration/activation. It does seem that you have to be very careful to uninstall Dragon (while connected to the Internet) from one machine, if you want to move it to another machine, make hardware changes or update your operating system. For some reason I still get an activation nag screen sometimes (even though it is activitated) but since the PC it is on is about to be re-imaged I will see what happens

I don't know how I survived as a translator without this - I have just powered through a 10,000 word translation and it spoke nicely to the user-unfriendly TM software I had to use (with which I am on barely speaking terms). The only thing is that I have to set aside some time to train it (and me). While the names it comes up with for a world-class steel producer (not in its curiously ample memory which appears to include Irish names like Niamh!) are entertaining, it is a tad irritating to correct them every time!
