I have only just started applying the principles I learnt from this book and have already lost weight! It's so simple and makes so much sense you wonder: how come this never occured to me before? Bethenny keeps it simple and user friendly- ultimately you have to change the way you approach food (YOU are in control, not the food) and listen to your body (or food voice)
I started to ask myself: 'what do your really want to eat' and 'are you really hungry/desperate for that extra cookie/chocolate/wine,' etc
The answers surprised me and because I took her advice to stop fearing food I was able to keep moving without feeling deprived, knowing that I was the one in control, if I truly wanted that slice of cake I could have (some of) it and there was always tomorrow; in fact there is a lifetime during which I can sample all the delicious foods the world has to offer. But on my own terms, savouring every single bite.
Heaven knows, I loathe and avoid all self-help books as a rule but after watching Bethenny on RHNY and just seeing how authentic and unafraid she was in showing the world her real self, I thought to myself- I will buy her book, I sensed it would be as down to earth and honest as Bethenny herself and you know what? In my opinion, it is.
What can I say? I love this book and I'm ready to unleash my inner skinnygirl.

This book is great for people who are struggling with weight loss and cannot seem to find a diet that works. The author repeatedly tells her reader that this is NOT a diet, but a new lifestyle. And I agree. The book is divided into two parts.

The first part is the 10 "rules" that the author asks the readers the follow in their everyday life in order to lose weight. The first rule that I find most effective is "your diet is your bank account", which explains how you need to balance your meals throughout the day. Another rule called "check yourself before you wreck yourself" talks about the dangers of binge eating and how you can break that habit.

In the second part of the book the author dedicates each chapter to everyday of the week. She talks about any situation you could be in when it comes to food, and how to deal with it.

I have tried a lot of diets - weight watchers, abs diet, and the zone - but this book made me realize that it's not about restricting yourself from certain foods, but allowing yourself any food you want. I recommend this book to anyone who loves food, but just needs a little help on how to eat, NOT what to eat.

After reading this book, I found it most liberating because having tried many diets and different ways of loosing weight this book was the best by far in controlling what you eat with feeling restricted. It gives you many tips and makes you think about food in a completely different way. You are able to have a healthy relationship with food without feeling deprived or feeling like you are eating too much, which is what this book is all about. It really does free you from a lifetime of dieting.

I first became aware of Bethenny Frankel on Bravo's Realhousewives of New York City which was shown on ITV2, I instantley warmed to her quick wit and dry sense of humour. Her positive attitude to health and nutrition led me to buying this book, and after the first chapter I was hooked! I can already see that I am loosing weight through following her 10 rules, but I have also taken up yoga through her enthusiasm for it and can really see and feel a difference! She is a fantastic role model, and there aren't many in today's society. She is so down to earth and refreshingly honest about her own battles with her weight over the years, as well as being a natural foods chef it makes sense that she can give the right advice by teaching her methods of balancing a healthy diet with exercise in a positive and simplistic manner. My attitude to health and nurtition has completley changed since I adopted the rules and values of Skinnygirl and I'm loving it!

I have tried sooooo many diets and finally this book seems to have cracked it for me! I have lost 6 pounds in two weeks and dont feel like I'm missing out on any thing. Tonight I'm going out for dinner and planning to have a dessert! lol!
It is written in a really easy way to read and there are recipes at the end of each chapter, so far I have tried 5 of them and they are all delicious! Escepially the cookie recipe!
It really has changed my life and I only read it two weeks ago.
I would reccommend this book to everyone. I have lent my book to my sister and dad and they love it also.

I read this book in October last year and within a week I had lost 7lbs! At first I took it to the extremes and followed my usual 'I shouldn't be eating that' regime but quickly adjusted and I cannot begin to tell you how freeing this is. I AM NO LONGER ON A DIET! For the first time in I don't know how many years I am eating in such a way as I consider 'normal' thin people eat. I used to look at girls when I was staying at an hotel and wonder how they could eat that big breakfast? and still be thin? Answer, THEY DON'T EAT LIKE THAT ON A DAILY BASIS. It frees your mind, you can have whatever you want but if you eat that burger, fries and cake YOU WILL PUT ON WEIGHT, so now I have a little of everything, no exceptions. I have lost 10lbs now and I consider that's without even trying. Yes the book is common sense, but it took me to read it for it to finally sink in, this is the way to eat. I never put so much as an ounce on over Christmas and we were away at an hotel in London for 3 nights, I am flabbermegasted yay! I highly recommend this book, I am thinner than I have been since I've been 40 (now 54), but it's not that fact that has me so amazed, it's the fact I feel totally released from the bondage of food, I used to spend all day thinking what can I have, what am I allowed, now I can have anything. My dinner is served on a smaller plate, you do get used to it. go on treat yourself, buy it, you won't be disappointed, if you are I'll come to your house and cook your dinner for you:)
