High quality photographs from some of Malaysia's top nature photographers are accompanied in this title by detailed species descriptions, which include nomenclature, length, plumage, distribution, habits and habitat. This is the only regional bird guide to include Mann's complete checklist of the birds of Malaysia, the definitive reference to Malaysian birds.

Beginner's guide 12 Nov 2010
Format:Paperback
This is a basic introduction to the birds of Malayasia and Singapore, really aimed at the casual birdwatcher rather than the twitchers. It's a compact little book with two species and their photographs per page.

It suffers from the usual drawback of photographic guides in that only one plumage is shown, no female or juvenile images, even when quite different. Many species that occur in the region have no text or photograph, for example no gulls are depicted.

The photos are pretty good for the birds that are covered. This book would be fine for a couple of days stop-over in Singapore, but not suitable for two weeks serious birding in Malaysia

Easy to carry and use. true, it does not include all the birds ,but common birds shows by clear photos.it helped me in Malaysia, where I do not have only (Guide to the Birds of Southeast Asia by Craig Robson ) which is the best, but heavy and difficult to determine the bird quickly because not contain maps and you should read the text to locate the bird. You need to always be your guide easy to use.

Possibly the best illustrated book on Malaysian birds...! 19 Feb 2011
By Isaac Ho - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
Frankly speaking, my birth place was Malaysia. When I was in this country of my birth, I took up the hobby of bird-watching. I particularly like the Dawn Chorus, when myraid of birds greet the dawn with their rioteous songs. I possess several books on Malaysian birds but the best guide is this book: A Naturalist's Guide to the Birds of Malaysia....! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this manual to fellow bird-watchers when they go to the Malaysiana region or for those who reside there. I thank the authors for such a well-illustrated book...keep it up...Cheers!
