DVD Description

The incredible story of Charlie Russell - the man who has devoted his life to the grizzly bears of the Kamchatka Peninsula. The Russian mafia killed Charlie's beloved bears but now he's back with four new cubs and he's trying to prove that Russia can live with its grizzlies. This film follows Charlie as he restarts the project, spending nine months living with the orphaned cubs as they become increasingly independent and make the crucial transition to the wild. But will he be able to keep them safe from other grizzlies and the ever-present threat of poachers?

Brilliant documentary 27 Mar 2010
Format:DVD
As a huge fan of bears, I love this documentary. Seeing the bears grow up with Charlie is wonderful, and Charlie is the best bear-friend I have ever seen on TV. I am a huge believer in people living in harmony with bears, bears only become agressive to humans because they have never forgotten what man has done to them before.

This documentary shows Charlie doing the most wonderful thing - taking orphaned bear cubs from a zoo and taking them to their natural habitat, where they rightly should be. He acts as a "mother" to them, teaches them how to swim, catch fish, be bears. There are cute moments, funny moments, such a brilliant documentary to watch. Charlie respects the bears and in turn they respect him. Its a shame not all humans can do the same.

If you like this documentary, you will LOVE reading about his bear project "Grizzly Heart: Living Without Fear Among the Brown Bears of Kamchatka" which he wrote with Maureen Enns. I only wish Maureen were in this documentary too, after having read the book, I know she was just as in love with these gorgeous cubs as Charlie was!

Very good film. 20 Feb 2011
Format:DVD
Poaching, killing endangered animals for sport. Human is most vicious predator (kills not because he is hungry but for sport). If you cannot farm it - you cannot hunt it. Bear Man Of Kamchatka sacrificed TEN years to show what poaching and senseless killing of defenseless animals is. To some, the man is "a nut case", but most people who see the film realize what we should do: we should educate people that if we or our children are to enjoy the world and nature, we must preserve the environment and animals AT ANY COST.
Another good documentary films that people might like: Elephant Diaries, Echo of the Elephants, Amazon with Bruce Perry.

Inspirational 3 Oct 2010
Format:DVD
Fascinating, inspiring and heartbreaking.
The scenery and photograpy is amazing. It would be worth watching for the scenery alone.
Loved this but was left wondering whether anyone was going to take over and fill the gap so not a comfortable or happy ending and all the better for it.
