A secret cave deep within the mountains of Pakistan is one of the last refuges of the snow leopard - the rarest and most beautiful of all the big cats. Journalist Nisar Malik uses his news skills to help promote and protect this highly endangered species. For Nisar, this is a journey of discovery in which he finds beauty and peace in a place that he had previously portrayed as dangerous and evil. For the viewer, the film offers a journey into a misrepresented and unknown part of the world.

I really enjoyed this dvd as it has some of te best footage you will see on these endangered cats. It doesn't follow a story of the cat's lives it is mainly about the cameraman looking for the snow leopards and explaining about their conservation etc. However, the footage you get to see of the snow leopards is some of the best - its amazing to finally get to watch snow leopards in the wild. There is footage of a snow leopard with her adult cub and of a hunt. I would highly recommend this dvd to anyone who loves snow leopards.

This is a great DVD. Nisar Malik and Mark Smith set out into the mountains, determined to film snow leopards. Snow leopards are unfortunately very rare and there isn't much footage of them in their natural surroundings. Malik and Smith brave some serious terrain and rough weather and this pays off when they finally find a snow leopard and manage to get in close and film her. I am fascinated by snow leopards and enjoyed watching the rare footage and the fantastic scenery on the DVD. I wish the film could have been longer but as the snow leopard is so rare it's never going to be easy to stroll out and film continuously for a four hour DVD!! Great, would highly recommend it.

This is an amazing documentary about the secret life of the snow leopard. If you are looking for a real "first-hand" general view about the natural history and conservation of this species, this is the best way to get it!. Excelllent footages, not so good music, good story... I only noted that if they took so many footages of the snow leopard, I don't know why a few images are shown several times in the same programme... In this way, the edition is not so good!... but anyway, it is an excellent work taking into consideration how difficult is to find this species in the wild. There are just a few documentaries on this endangered big cat, but this one is absolutely the best!.

Surely the most stunning animal in the world, this beautifully shot film shows how well camouflaged this creature is as it's fur blends seemlessly with the snowy, rocky background. You get a keen sense of how difficult it is to film this animal, which only adds to it's mysticism. This does mean you don't get to know as much about the snow leopard as you might other animals, but you do get lots of unique and exciting footage of a snow leopard chasing markhors down a mountainside. Of course, as with many a wildlife film, you also get the sense that, like so much of the beauty of nature, the future of this creature hangs in the balance. I think this is why the final shot of the leopard in the gently falling snow managed to move me to tears.

Wow. A really interesting insight into these special animals and we get to see rare shots of a female with her cub. This Natural World is narrated by David Attenborough which only adds to the appeal of this documentary. I have seen the snow leopards at Marwell Wildlife Park (which has a highly effective and successful breeding program) but nothing can compare to seeing them in their natural habitat.

What's not to love about snow leopards! Exquisite creatures, can't get enough of them. My grand children will be watching this DVD. So important to love and care for natures treasures. How fortunate are we to be able to see these illusive and rare 'cats'. So grateful for the intrepid explorers who boldly go forth to capture such brilliant images.

Again David does not disappoint, and his patience in this DVD proved this. It was a real bonus to see Snow Leopards, as they are incredibly rare, and extremely elusive. I would recommend anybody who is interested in Wildlife at all to obtain this- it is very sobering to think that they could soon be extinct. This must have been an incredibly difficult and costly film to make!

Before I bought this DVD, I was interested in how an endangered species copes in the 21st century.
There was excellent presentation of how the animal was tracked and its behaviour in the mountains and close to human habitation.
As it is such a beautiful creature the DVD appeals to even those without a great knowledge of wildlife.
