Reviews

This spiritual journey sees conservationist Satish Kumar spend one year exploring the beauty of England's Dartmoor National Park - the largest and wildest area of open country in southern England. The film pays homage to the heather-covered moors and deep-wooded gorges, craggy granite outcrops known as tors, and the wonderful variety of wildlife that has made this place home. Satish, a former Jain monk from Rajasthan, acts as a guide to this remarkable environment, presenting the sacred beauty of the forests, rivers and moors in a very new light.

Waiting eagerly for this DVD. This was such an amazing programme. I love Dartmoor and this programme takes us through a year on the moor through the eyes of Satish Kumar. through watching this problem I discovered new places to visit.
Satish Kumar is inspirational . He radiates peace and calm.
This programme works on two levels for me, the first a lovely film about Dartmoor and on the second its relaxing, medititative. *****

I have been searching high and low for this 50 minute revelation that An Earth Pilgrim was when I first saw it. Satish Kumar communicates his wonder at and total respect for nature in ways that echoed deeply with my own, non-religious, belief system. If like me, you have the intuition that we should take more care of the planet we live on, but sometimes lack the ability to express it eloquently, you will find Satish tells it in a very powerful and beautiful way. He simply makes so much sense.

I have just watched this beautiful film on UK TV Docs. The photography is stunning and Satish Kumar's narration is deeply moving.

It reminded me how much I miss Dartmoor now that I have moved away.

The number of times I've seen comments from people about this episode that say "I was only going to put the tv on in the background, but then I became entranced by the programme..."

Earth Pilgrim is Satish Kumar's heartfelt dialogue on how he sees nature as sacred. The photography is astonishing from the very beginning, with Dartmoor giving us far more variety and beauty than I expected.

As soon as this finished on television, I wanted to see it again. The central message of seeing the divine in nature is shown well, but any fan of wildlife documentaries will love the extremely high quality of the visuals and sound.

Natural World's other episodes (such as Snow Leopard) are superb, but Earth Pilgrim is on another level. I can't recommend this DVD enough.

This message from Satish Kumar to respect the earth and live in harmony with all living creatures is filmed on Dartmoor, where Satish Kumar finally settled. It conveys wisdom that is not to be found in the conventional attitudes prevalent in our society. But recent events have highlighted how important that message is, if as a species we want to survive into the future. I would recommend this film as essential viewing to anyone disillusioned with mainstream religions and politics, and seeking an insight into pantheist thinking.

I bought this dvd, having seen the programme when it aired on tv. It is beautifully filmed, showing Dartmoor and its wildlife as it changes through the seasons. Alongside this is Satish Kumar's commentary on life, the seasons, and being what he calls an 'Earth Pilgrim'. I have watched it many times now and it never loses its appeal. (If you have a large screen tv so much the better, as some of the scenery is really breathtaking)

This dvd is so beautiful and thought provoking, when you feel stressed or unhappy with your life for any reason just watch this dvd and remember why we here on this earth and how it could be if we all took a leaf out of satish kumars book. It always helps me to remember that what we humans have destroyed we can undo if we have the will to do it.

I had been living away from my country of Birth in America for 30 years and on returning this year as a Spiritual Ecologist, I was pleased to meet Satish Kumar at Seed festival, Hawkwood College, Stroud. I was so inspired by his talk which included.., the potential within the smallest seed to grow into a huge tree...,that I searched for his video, Natural World, Earth Pilgrim. When I watched the beautiful images of nature unfold, it felt as if I was truly home again with Mother Earth welcoming me as if I'd never been away and giving me more strength to help fight for her survival.
I would highly recommend this superb quality video to anyone who has felt a disconnection from Nature particularly in these critical times when Nature is calling us to be consciously aware of how we are treating Her. This film brings a sense of deep heart felt gratitude for the divine Blessing that is Nature itself. Thank you Satish.
