Product Description

Badgers are loved by many and hated by others, yet very few people have ever seen one in real life. So how does the badger maintain this secret life? This film follows a badger family throughout the year, from the birth of their tiny cubs deep underground to their spring emergence, discovery of summer scenery and encounters with people and wild neighbours. Set against the idyll of country life on a working farm, this film uncovers the dark and light side of the badger as never seen before. What is revealed is a surprising, entertaining and moving account of the country's most respected and endlessly watchable wild inhabitant

5.0 out of 5 stars Spectacular, informative and moving 24 Jan 2009
Natural History programming is a real jewel in the crown of the BBC's programming and this breathtaking programme is a superb example. Following a sett of badgers through the year, the programme documents their movements both above the ground and below. The twists and turns of their fortune as they endure hardships and enjoy bounties throughout the year is movingly portrayed, as is the struggle for dominance between the males of the family (which includes one fight scene filmed underground which is as dramatic and memorable as any you're likely to see in a wildlife documentary). The footage from above the ground is superb; the footage from below the ground is simply unbelievable and certainly unique. David Attenborough's superb narration, interesting and well-informed, offers a final stamp of authority to the film. If you're interested in nature, you'll love this - it's a real treat.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing 21 Aug 2009
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
This is a must for animal lovers. Great insight into the way badgers interact with each other. Amazing to watch them collect bedding (just at the right time before it becomes damp) and "make their beds". One little guy becomes separated from his mum and siblings and tries to find them without success and has the sense to get himself back home and wait. Definitely a keeper.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant 6 Oct 2010
By Jenni
I originally watched Secrets of the Sett on one of the documentary channels on TV, and had to get it on DVD. It is a brilliant documentary about the lives of badgers and what these amazing creatures actually do in the wild.
Brilliant must-buy for any wildlife lover!
Also, ordered on Sunday, dispatched on Monday, arrived this morning (Wednesday). Very, very impressed!

4.0 out of 5 stars A warm and insightful disc 24 Jun 2013
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
To people in England the Badger has special significance and Sir David brings this out in his warm and sympathetic narration. The photography is excellent and ought to be given an upgrade to Blu-ray where it would get 5 stars. Although a bit short this is a disc to treasure.

This is a great behind-the-scenes filming of a badgers sett during a year. Informative and entertaining! - Who knew that badgers make their beds?
