Book Description

The last few students climbed through windows, black smoke billowing out of them. The teacher turned to his student. “I’ll let you down first.”
“But Coach, whose going to help you?”
“Hey, you’re my best fielder, I expect to jump right into your arms,” he said. “Just promise not to whip me over to Smith for a double play.”
The young man, his face streaked with soot, grinned at his coach. “Yeah, Coach, I promise.”
He took the young man’s hands in a tight grip and slowly lowered him out the window. When he had extended his reach as far as he could, he let him go.
The student fell into the evergreen boughs, the prickly needles scraped his arms, but the branches kept him from hitting the ground. He rolled off the bushes and jumped up as fast as he could. He turned his eager face up to the window. “Okay, Coach,” he called.
The explosion violently blew the windows out of the building. Screaming students darted across the lawn, barely escaping the shards of glass raining down on them. All of the students except Stevo, who still stood below the gaping hole in the wall, oblivious to the blood running down his face and arms. “Coach, Coach,” he screamed. “I’m here, Coach. Coach, I’m here.”
Mary O’Reilly investigates the death of a beloved high school coach while she tries to overcome the repercussion of solving Jeannine’s murder.

2.0 out of 5 stars Sickly sweet 11 Sept. 2012
By Twiglet
Format:Kindle Edition
I have been enjoying the Mary O Reilly series, though I had begun to notice that the main characters were beginning to be a little too nice that it was bordering on sickly.
There was a point in this series - I'm not sure if it was book two or three - where the main character, Mary could have developed into a smart, tough but also sensitive human being with a good sense of humor - a likeable character. But around the time of her disclosure that she was still a virgin, along with the Mills and Boons type dialogue between her and Bradley, she began to get irritating but it was possible to over look most of the slushy bits and still enjoy the read. Not so with this installment, where each of the main characters have become so nice and righteous that I could happily slap any one of them. I tried to persevere but only managed to get a fifth of the way through. I had to stop before everybody in it started giving each other congratulatory high-fives for being such nice folks.
It's a shame but I don't think I'll be chancing buying another one in the series.

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful read 16 Mar. 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is the 6th book I have read in the series. It didn't disappoint, as usual. This book had a lot more wit than previous books and I loved the characters who came into the story. Ian, the visiting Scottish professor, is so funny (he came in during the last book), and the children sound adorable. It follows the life of Mary O'Reilly and her close friends who help her to solve the murders that have been brought to Mary's attention via the various spirits who come into her life. I loved reading this book and I'm just about to download the next book.

2.0 out of 5 stars Annoying 29 Jan. 2012

Iv been a devoted reader of the Mary O'Reilly series from the very 1st book but this one left me frustrated and irritated.. It was too lovey dovey for my liking and made me skip ahead a sentence when I saw a cringe worthy moment coming... .. More detective and less soppiness in the next book please oh and it was obvious from the start who Bradley's daughter is going to be

Another good read from Terri Reid. I have read the first six and intend to read the rest in the near future. If the other books are as good as the six I have already devoured, I'm in for a treat.
