Most nature films seem to focus on flesh-tearing and mating activities. Not this one. "The velvet voice" is a more expected association with Derek Jacobi, but he turns his narration talents to "The Velvet Claw," a multi-part series on the rise of carnivores, and the result is intelligent, engrossing, and memorable. The series uses graphics, animation, and exceptional film to tell the story of the branching out of the original carnivores, from prehistoric to today. Fascinating film, suitable for families. But don't watch it all at once. Take it in parts because each reviews the previous one. Highly recommended.
