This book was nothing like I was expecting. Far from being a comprehensive facial workout programme, it was a guide to some rather way out practises interspersed with some exercises and padded out with tips and ideas which, whilst some of them were perfectly valid, others were nothing short of ridiculous. In one chapter, the reader is told to bang their head against a wall, whilst another tip is to "stare at the sun for as long as you can" in order to 'improve' ones eyesight. Anyone with any common sense knows that staring at something so bright as the sun for any length of time is very dangerous and damaging to the eyes!
Some of the exercises themselves seemed ok, but in my opinion not as good or concise as the ones in Carole Maggio's Facercise book. I didn't think that the book was very well structured, and the exercises were too few for what I bought the book for, with a lot of other jargon seemingly thrown in to make the reader feel they were getting more than they actually are.Likewise, sticking plasters to my forehead or rubbing my skin is not really my idea of a good way to get rid of wrinkles. I did not like the writers tone, she insults the reader and tells them they will look like a "saggy old bag" if they do not start doing her exercises right away!

While I have no doubt that the author is well meaning in all her advice, and that some of her exercises have the ability to help improve the tone of peoples faces, I found her references to dead corpses and pus rather distasteful.

All in all a rather misleading book, with a somewhat offbeat sense of direction. Juliette Kando is welcome to sleep on the carpet as she suggests any time she likes, but personally I'm sticking to my bed, and, most probably Carole Maggio's much more effective and down-to-earth Facercise programme.

The front cover of the book, the reviews and synopsis all say that this book is about exercising and toning the muscles in your face. I applaud the fact that the author emphasises the fact that you can't treat the face as an isolated body part - you need to work and take care of the entire body. But I never expected to have to read through 96 pages before it gave you the first facial exercise! By then I was so annoyed with the author going on about things she obviously knew nothing about ("nod your head ten times a day and your migraine will be gone forever" or "if you work any muscle long enough, the fat around it will vanish"). The facial exercises were badly explained and illustrated which seemed to be the result of lack of focus on the authors part. I am sure they could have been great if more time was spent on the purpose of the book, namely to show the reader how to tone the face. Other exercise and beauty advice should have been left to the experts.

I was seriously thinking about having something done to my face when a friend of mine said don't! and she bought me a copy of Juliette Kando's Natural Facelift. I never looked back. My face began to change within a few weeks of doing the exercises. The bags under my eyes are gone, my double chin is gone, but the best thing is that doing the facial exercises make me feel better, more alert and alive and people have begun remarking how well I look. I strongly recommend this book. It is very clearly written and, when you stop to think about what it says, it really makes a lot of sense. So why pay the earth to have your face butchered by cosmetic surgery when there is such a healthy and simple alternative, namely to get your face fit and young looking? N0, you won't be grimmacing into a mirror all day, you will just become better aware of how you use your face in day to day activities. Try it, you'll see it works!
