Marilyn Glenville's book is just what it says: It shows you that--contrary to what most of us may think--dieting is not the only (or best, for that matter) way to lose weight. This book helps you eat in a normal and healthy way. There are no claims that are not backed by science (Glenville actually uses a number of footnotes to quote her sources) and no promises that following her advice you will lose 50 lbs. in 10 days. The book provides solid, sensible information on eating properly along with several less-known tips (e.g. the qualities of the supplement Garcinia Cambodia). I found it a very helpful book.

I'm not into those lose-20-lbs-in-a-week type books and am pleased to report that this is NOT one of those! The book is about being healthy. It provides a lot of interesting detail about how different foods affect the body and recommends a balanced diet and regular exercise as a means of gradually getting your body into it's optimum state. No short-lived fixes here! The book is quite motivating - I have made changes to my lifestyle since reading it and frequently refer back to it when I forget things. It's an enjoyable read and also a lot of fun to talk about - friends always asks me to tell more when they see it on the coffee table. I'd recommend it to anyone interested in becoming healthier but not necessarily losing much weight.

Just a short entry: I've always been a big consumer of quick-fixes, but this book has proved to me that there is more to life than diets, and more to health than being slim. After following her advice, I have lost nearly 28 pounds by eating what I want to eat, and eating sensibly and well. I take my hat off to you, Marilyn Glenville. If only you could show the rest of my country what their obsession with food, diets and low-fat goodies is doing to them! And how their approach to eating is causing all the problems that they are trying to avoid. This book should be required reading. Would certainly halt the spread of eating disorders. Marvellous.
