Biography

Glam metal band Poison started out life with the rather more cultured name Paris, before switching to a name reflective of the moral panic some parents suffered about rock music. Famously, the band held auditions for a guitarist during which they rejected Slash, who would go on to stardom with Guns N' Roses. The guitarist they chose, C. C. DeVille, won the gig thanks to his performance of "Talk… Read more in Amazon's Poison Store

Pure Poison 8 Feb 2011

This is a great album. I initially bought this on the day of release in 93. I was not a big Poison fan back then and still not to this day, however this album is by far the bands best. I stupidly sold this record when downsizing my CD collection but have since purchased it again. The production far exceeds the bands previous three albums and it has to be said, the addition of Richie Kotzen to the line up was a masterstroke. Every track is memorable and holds up well within the era it was initially released.
For definitive Poison, get the Best Of as that contains the stand out tracks like Nothin But A God Time & Unskinny Bop, but for a more detailed synopsis of what Poison were capable of, pick up Native Tongue.

poison,s finest hour 10 Nov 2009

As the other reviews have said this is Poisons finest studio record. Quality songs well written and a million miles away from the earlier million sellers. POISON ARE ESSENTIALLY A LIVE BAND though and if you are a fan or new to this band there live shows are still a must see, though rarely will you see songs from this album live. OH WELL, listen and enjoy.

This is undoubtably one of Poison's best Albums! it was released in early 1993, and at the time poison had lost the services of their Awesome lead guitarist, C.C Deville. he was replaced by Richie Kotzen who is a great replacement, but not a patch on C.C! Kotzen was dismissed after a brief time and replaced by Blue's Sarasceno, with C.C Devile coming back to the band towards the end of the 90's!!!
this Album is far different from there previous million seller's (Look what the cat dragged in, flesh and blood, open up...etc), being that it has a more blues'y and gospely feel to it, but there is still some great tracks....one's too look out for are, "strike up the band", "untill you suffer some (fire and ice)" and "stand".
in all it's a great all'round record from poison!
if your a die hard fan or if your new to poison, it's a definate must!

although if you try finding it in HMV or any big music chains like that, your gonna be very dissapointed...because i've been led to believe thats it's been deleted!
