National Lampoon films do seem to have been slipping here and there, and with comedy classics like National Lampoons European Vacation on there past prodjects it seemed they might well drift into obscurity. This film firmly establishes the talent of writers making hilarious fun of Lethal Weapon and silence of the Lambs. Lines such as "Quid Pro quo", "What does that mean?", "I'm pretentious" I found hilarious. Anyone whose had to endure the tedium of watching Cop films in which the seemingly never wrong formula of black cop meets white cop will find themselves laughing till there sides burst. A couple of redundant jokes litter this otherwhise hilarious film however in genral its one of the most amusing parody's I've ever seen, more like this please!

Unfairly considered as pap due to its 'National Lampoon's' origins, Loaded Weapon hits the spot like no other spoof. The film impeccably manages to make a fool of the over-gloss and cheesiness of Leathal Weapon and buddy cop movies in general. Much of the success of the film is down to the straight-faced turn of Emilio Estevez, avoiding the self-consciousness which makes so many spoofs fail. Samuel L. Jackson shows of his comic talents pre-stardom as he plays his Danny Glover character to hilarious perfection. The authentic 80's soundtrack gives the required feel of the tackiness of the Lethal Weapon movies, while the cast pull off the daft jokes without any need for blatant face-pulling. In fact the cast is so well known (Estevez, Jackson, Whoopi Goldberg, Tim Curry, William Shatner, Bruce Willis, Denise Richards) that even the weakest jokes pass by without so much as a groan. Loaded Weapon is a brilliantly observed spoof first, and an exceptional jokes vehicle second, where the daft jokes hit the mark rather than seem like a cheap attempt to amuse the viewer. There are so many priceless moments packed into the tight running time and such flawless spoof performances that it is a shame that this film has been dusted under the carpet along with so many poor 'National Lampoon's' movies. Loaded Weapon is an unexpected spoof treasure.

It starts off great and the first time you see it, it will make you roll on the floor laughing, but it isn't consistent and it does drag on alot and the gags don't get any more sophisticated than slapstick, which is a shame, they could have done alittle more later on, but worth a place in a comedy collection.

Got this from my sister for christmas (Thank you!)and it was great to watch again-I havnt seen it in around 10 years! This spoof looks like Citizen Kane next to the likes of Meet The Spartans or Disaster Movie. It has actual jokes in it and not just taking the mick out of what ever was big news in that weeks gossip magazines!- some great cameos in this too,Phil Hartman,Charlie Sheen,Whoopi Goldberg,James Doohan, Dennis Leary and film stealing roles from William Shatner and Bruce Willis! Its not up there with Airplane! or Naked Gun but it stands well next to Hot Shots! 1 and 2. No masterpiece but sometimes all you need is a good laugh.Definately worth a few quid and will bring a smile to face more than once! Pity it was such a flop-we never did get Loaded Weapon 2,could have been heaps of fun.

Drugs are being made into cookies and its up to Colt and Luger to save the day.....

Fantastically ridiculous film that does not take itself seriously and is non stop full of jokes from start to finish, Emilio Estevez and Samuel L Jackson who play the spoof lethal weapon's Mel Gibson and Danny Glover are superb together in this film, a lot of the jokes are great and fans of intentional poor continuity and play on words will be thrilled.

Cameos and funny versions of scenes from: Silence of the Lambs & Basic Instinct are there.

Features appearances by Whoopii Goldberg, Bruce Willis, Tim Curry, Charlie Sheen and William Shatner.

I also recommend Amazon Women on the moon, for those who like this style of comedy.

This is a very silly comedy that you will love if you like Police Squad, Aeroplane and films in that mold. Unfortuantly if you are not into these films then I wouldn't really recomend it, you have to have a certain type of humour. Some very good one liners and funny phrases, a few bits like Police Academy as well.

Much like Hot Shots! one and deux, The film basically parodies Lethal Weapons one and two, and throws in spoofs of other successful movies during this era.

The plot is about a microfilm that has instructions of how to hide drugs in innocent looking cookies, and two cops have to recover it.

What is good about this movie, is that it was one of the last genuinely funny spoofs ever made, and after Part Deux and and a third, they became obsolete.

The film isn't really laugh out loud funny, and some of the jokes are more miss than hit, but it's wonderful to see so many good cameos put to even better use (the Bruce Willis one is priceless).

The only bad thing about this film, is that it's dated, due to the nature of it's topics. Many now wouldn't get the Silence Of the Lambs, or Basic Instinct references, even though they are blatantly obvious.

The reason why many wouldn't get them now, is because the scenes that are parodied here, were so overplayed in the early nineties, that they were almost begging to be spoofed.

All in all, if you are a fan of the action genre, you will get something from this, even though it's pretty throwaway stuff.

Maybe Last Action Hero would have been more successful if this had not been made.
