Reviews

Made-for-TV spin-off of the successful National Lampoon Chevy Chase comedy films. Randy Quaid reprises his role as crude but loveable Cousin Eddie, who along with his wife (Miriam Flynn) and family is given an all-expenses-paid holiday in the South Pacific by his boss. But things, as ever, don't go according to plan - and when the entire clan end up shipwrecked on a remote tropical island, it looks like it's going to be another Christmas to remember. Eric Idle makes an appearance as 'British Man on Plane'.

After the original Christmas Vacation expectations were not high when purchasing as the first was exceptional by the National Lampoon standards. This story focuses on Clark W Griswolds brother Eddie and this hapless fools attempt at holding down a testing job at a local reserch station. The story does not have a good thread and why it is called Christmas Vacation 2 is beyond me. Not at all into the Christmas groove that the first was a poor attempt to capitalise on Chevy Chases masterpiece. Avoid if you have sense!

When I first discovered this film, I thought it was going to be shocking to say the least. But actually it ain't all bad.
The intial idea of being stranded on an island over Christmas isn't exactly a pull factor towards this film, but it works.
The film allows us to catch up with cousin Eddie and his family. The script isn't gonna win any prizes, but it's effective.
The film was enjoyable and I'd rather watch this to Vegas Vaction any day. The best way to approach this, is by not expecting to much from it, and then it will suprise you.
It is an enjoyable film to watch and Randy Quaid is excellent as always.

I brought this DVD hoping to be entertained due to the character Ed being so funny in the other Lampoons only to be let down badly. To be honest I lost interest after about 20 minutes & struggled to continue watching as did my son but we stuck with it till the end & will not be watching again. A load of rubbish & my advice to all of you is save your money.

Unfortunately, this was to say the least, dire! I love the Vacation movies starring Chevy Chase and Randy Quaid, but this (appart from Quaid) bears no resemblance. It's one to avoid and pretend it was never made.

This film is not living up to the usual 'Vacation' standards, but the film is fine to pass a couple of hours. I thought it was quite funny in places, and the setting on a desert island made a nice change. I think it missed the other 'Griswald' characters.

I read the reviews but thought it couldn't be that bad and as it was so cheap thought well what the heck. Well believe me it is really awful so much so that we haven't watched it all as it was so bad don't know how it got released terrible .

I write this, in the hope of preventing others from wasting their money, and making the same mistake as I did! Purchased on the basis of the original, brilliant and classic 'National Lampoons Christmas' starring Chevy Chase. This is, without doubt, the worst film I have ever seen, and turned it off after an awful first 30 minutes. This is an insult to even include this under the 'National Lampoons' series!! I should have guessed when Chevy Chase was not listed!

I have given this 1 star, only because I did not have the option of giving a zero or minus score!! This film truly struggles to even be classified as a 'B' movie and is even worse than previous painful experiences for the viewer, such as 'Bad Santa' and 'Alexander'!

Please, please, dont make the same mistake that I did!
