This documentary-style video provides an enticing introduction to the mysteries of ancient Egypt for those who are new to the subject, or those who are travelling to Egypt. For those who already are well versed in Egyptian history, this video provides an esoteric glimpse into the past.

In his sonorous, deep voice, Omar Sharif muses about the secrets of the Sphinx and the Pyramids, how they were built and why, and emphasizes the power and belief of the pharoahs who were inspired to build these wonders. We are taken down into the murky darkness of the tombs and to the very base of the Sphinx (which many travellers to Egypt do not have the opportunity to do). Perhaps the only drawback, if there is one, is that one wishes that Mr. Sharif would be more detailed and stay longer with one subject as complex and interesting as pyramid building or of the religion of the ancient Egyptians. At any rate, this video provides an excellent springboard to further reading or viewing about the mysteries of the pharoahs, and renews one's curiosity about this ancient civilization.
