I assumed incorrectly that I would be receiving Nat Geo by now - 1 month later - but no. First I received a small cardboard box with a card inside and an activation number to be either sent by post or input to a website. The web address was incorrect. I phone the ?helpline? and was given another web address. This didn't work - code not valid. I rang again and was told that amazon activation codes didn't become active for at least a week after the sale was registered by amazon with Nat Geo, and in any event I won't receive Nat Geo magazines until September at the earliest. Anyway I waited a few more days, but still no luck. I've since sent the card by post and heard no more. I'm trusting to luck that the magazines will start arrive in due course. Not very happy!!

Do not order this magazine subscription via Amazon, you are wasting your time and money. My order of 4 Dec 2007 has still not had first issue. It is now 24 March 2008.......................

This is one of World's great magazines and started me off on my career nearly 50 years ago through a subscription bought by my parents. It came direct from Washington DC and I drooled over the adverts as well as the articles. I have bought two of my grandchildren subsciptions to NG Kids magazine. The eldest one is now 11 and asked if he could have a subscription to the 'Grown Up' version. I obliged of course and thought that 2 months advance would surfice. No such luck! The welcome pack sent to him included an activation code that does not work and getting info from NG makes getting blood out of a stone seem simple. I would emphasis that this is not Amazon's fault = they have been very helpful and prompt in responding to emails. I would advise them to drop this magazine from their catalogue like a hot potato unless there is a major step change in NG's customer service (or non-service more accurately) Their payment and delivery service is appalling.

The magazine is flawless (although if you're more a pick and flick person, buy one in the shops first to see if you like it as it is mainly reading). Read more
