Best Value 25 Feb 2010
Format:Paperback
If you are thinking of buying the National Geographic guides to North East America and North West America seperately... don't bother.
This single book is much better value.
You will pay 1/2 the price of the other two, but get exactly the same plates, text and maps.
I both all three books and was very disappointed with the other two.
Save your money....

Great and cheap! 17 Aug 2011
Format:Paperback
I just wanted to write a quick review to try and boost the rating following the rather ridiculous review raving about good-looking birds. This is a very cheap but very high quality book and well worth anybodies money that has an interest in birds. And of course worth having for any dedicated UK birders just in case of a rare US vagrant to out shores! Highly recommended.

Are all North American birds ugly? Judging by this book, the answer is yes. They look like tinseltown cartoon characters. Huey, Dewey and Louie looked better. If you see a good-looking bird in USA, it's probably a European vagrant! Please call 911 and ask for Lars Jonsson.

I'm sure this field guide serves its purpose eminently. Provided the birds you are trying to identify are ugly, that is. Nor am I surprised that this guide is brought to us by National Geographic, the same people who gave us THE PILTDOWN BIRD.

HA HA HA!!!

PS. Did Audubon shoot every good-looking birdie in Amerika?
