    Nice Strap 8 Feb 2010

I purchased this with a bit of apprehension having read the previous review about the camera getting scratched. However, I have found that if you are careful when putting the camera in your bag then there is not a problem at all.

I bought the strap to use in conjunction with the Nat Geo Earth Explorer Back pack I had recently, what I like about the strap is that you can hook it directly onto the backpack carry straps which means you don't have to have it around your neck, I find this to be really comfy to carry.

When used on its own, the strap performs very well. It feels secure and again, quite comfortable to wear, much better than the strap that came with my Nikon D90. The two little pockets on either side of the strap are yet to convince me they have any usefulness, I have placed in them my SD cards but its a bit awkward getting them out. I would get rid of these little pockets to be honest.

All in all a very well made product, on par with the Earth Explorer Backpack I have. I would happily recommend the strap to anyone, its a quality product.

The good points are the effective non-slip finish so it doesn't come off your shoulder, the two little pockets which will hold memory cards (but not SLR batteries) and the 'build' quality. Unfortunately though, the strap has two large metal clips on it and these can scratch the camera when it's bundled back in your bag. I returned the strap because of this.

I read one other review that cautioned the use of this strap with a good quality DSLR - and unfortunately I chose to ignore it - thinking that the problem wouldn't be an issue, provided I was careful. The issue in question is that the attachment clasps are made of heavy metal - and the whole time I have had the strap on my camera I have been worried about the clasps damaging the camera, to the extent that I started wrapping the camera in a protective cloth bag whenever I wasn't using it - in order to keep the clasps on the exterior of the bag and away from the camera body, LCD viewer and lens. In the end I have just purchased the Kata strap that does the same thing - as I really like the fact that both straps allow you to clip the camera to a rucksack when out walking - thereby allowing shoulders to take the strain rather than the neck. The Kata strap has tough plastic clips and in my view does the job perfectly well, and I am not worried about the camera getting bashed everytime I pick it up. However I have now put the Nat Geo strap onto a pair of old binoculars so at least I have some use for it.
