4.0 out of 5 stars Great microscope for beginners, 28 Dec 2007

Durability:4.0 out of 5 stars Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars Educational:5.0 out of 5 stars
I bought this for my 10 year old daughter for Christmas, and for £19.95, the quality is pretty good.

The image you see is good and clear, and it easy to use ( once you have figured it out!)

Plenty of extras to make your own slides and "be a scientist".

Be warned that the instructions are EXTREMELY brief, and to be honest we still havent quite figured out how to use the drawing/projecting adaptor, but we are more then happy with looking, observing and sketching at the moment.

A great buy if your children are interested in science - they will be fascinated!

2.0 out of 5 stars chemstuff, 13 Feb 2009

We were after a basic, easy to use microscope for our 9 year old son
and were pretty disappointed with this one as it is difficult for
him to use without an experienced adult helping. My husband has a PhD in
physics yet he had trouble getting a clear image.

I'm not sure who to recommend this for; maybe an adult who has hours
to spare working out how to use the thing but isn't after very clear
images.

1.0 out of 5 stars don't buy this, 5 Feb 2009
Durability:1.0 out of 5 stars Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars Educational:1.0 out of 5 stars
don't buy this if you want a microscope that you can actually use to look at things close-up, because it really does not work. Packaged as an educational toy, with pre-set slides, camera attachment, etc and ideal for youngsters interested in science, instead it is a box of cheap plastic bits and a microscope only a bit better than you can make yourself out of a plastic water bottle. Disappointing rubbish, and worse, it carries the National Geographic name
