Nathan’s Montana Bride (Sweet Historical Mail Order Bride Romance) (Montana Ranchers Brides series)

The Boston lady broke her promise to marry him, so the Montana rancher came to get her.
Montana 1886
Abigail Long had promised to become Nathan Grantly’s mail order bride. But she had changed her mind at the last minute. The tragedy that had struck had made it unthinkable that she go to Montana and start a new life with a man she hadn’t even met.
Tall, handsome Nathan Grantly wasn’t the kind of rancher to take no for an answer. The widower had a prosperous ranch to run and he needed a wife to bring up his young daughter. So Nathan did what came naturally. He came to claim his wife.

Will Abby be able to resist Nathan and the lure of her new life in Montana? And what will Nathan do when he finds out the real reason Abby was reluctant to become his wife, and what it means for their future together? Can Abby fulfil her dreams in the wilds of Montana?

This is the first in a new series of sweet historical romances, Montana Ranchers Brides.

3.0 out of 5 stars Too Many Inconsistencies 11 Sep 2014
By LadyM - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
It was okay, but it seemed disjointed. Several inconsistencies made it difficult to follow.
Nathan wanted his wife, Abigail, so much he was afraid he could not hold out until their wedding night, yet he left her alone and he slept somewhere else..
~Nathan's neighbor Brent was introduced as a tease and womanizer; knowing this Abigail later said he was the most serious man she knew. It was the other neighbor that was introduced as the serious one.
~Abby had taken Nathan's daughter to the river for a picnic and they both fell asleep, the daughter awoke and fell in the river and if Nathan had not arrived in time she would have drowned. When Abby cared for the little girl when she came down with a fever, Nathan said Abigail was the strongest woman he had ever known. To me she was irresponsible disregarding Nathan's rules for safety and taking his daughter to the river, then falling asleep.
~ Many more, but I don't recall them all.

The author put too much emphasis on beauty for my liking (everybody was beautiful and handsome). The ending, if you can call it that, left a lot to be desired.

I read so many books, maybe I expect more than many authors can deliver. Then I read a new author that blows me away with both story-line and character development, and that has me riveted from start to finish. That shiny new needle in the proverbial hay stack.

1.0 out of 5 stars disappointed 1 Aug 2014
By Daniel Stubbs - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
Did not care for the characters. The H was cruel. He was very aggressive in his pursuit of the h and made her promises to take care of her and to make her happy. He prceeded to ignore her and accuse her of terrible things while cliaming her to being only second best to his dead wife. He felt little remorse for whst he did. The h kept accapting his poor behavior which made her seem wesk and lame. I felt no connection between them of a physical or emotional nature. Would not recommended this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nathan's Montana bride 26 July 2014
By Marilyn Treece - Published on Amazon.com

This was a very good story. Abigail has been informed of a medical problem and decides to call off the wedding. Nathan is a very stubborn man and refuses to let her go. They both have secrets not shared with each other during their time of writing to each other. I would say all right for an older teen. Some mild sexual thoughts. Nothing to detailed.

Although the plot line was intriguing there are many grammatical errors. The picture on the book cover is NOT of the same time period as the story - note the button and style of pants - not to mention his style of hair. I did enjoy the story line.
