Product Description

Product Description

A woman of courage and honor. She sold everything she owned to go west and marry a powerful land baron she’d never seen. But Priscilla Wills hadn’t counted on the gunfight—or the gun—fighter—who would change her life: the tall,
broad-shouldered man who killed her guardian in self-defense. Reluctantly he agreed to take her through the dangerous Texas back country to her fiancé's ranch. She hadn’t planned on a journey that would take her into a stranger’s soul as he delivered her into another man’s waiting arms.

A man who lived by the gun. He was an outlaw—yet Brendan Trask unleashed in the prim and proper Priscilla a fiery passion that matched his own. But a man running for his life couldn’t afford a woman who hungered for the security that only her wealthy fiancé could provide.

Not bad, but not her best. 5 Aug 1999
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Having read all of Kat Martin's books that are in print I was very exited when I found this at a used book store. I bought it thinking it would be just as good as her newer ones. I was sort of dissapointed the herion was lacking in some quality I can't quite name, but it's in all her other books. Instead of liking the heroine I found myself getting rather anoyed with her. But it's not a bad book. And anyone who reads this book should not base her writing on it. I just don't know what she was thinking when she wrote this book.

a 1994 book that reads like an 80s bodice ripper 4 May 2012
By RomReader - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Heroine goes to Texas to marry her rancher fiance whom she's never met but corresponded with through letters. She sees her escort gunned down during a shootout with gunslinger Hero. She asked him to accompany her to her fiance's ranch and he reluctantly agrees after seeing the potential dangers that could befall her. Their attraction grows during their long trek to her fiance's ranch but she doesn't stops herself before it's too late. Meeting her domineering fiance and being pressured to wed him ASAP only served to increase her doubt about marrying him and strengthening her feelings for Hero. Hero abducts her on her wedding night and promised to marry her after she gets her unconsummated marriage annulled. But heroine's husband catches up to them and denies her an annulment due to his political plans. He convinces her that Hero is a good-for-nothing wanted murderer. So when Hero comes for her again she fights him off and he kidnaps her. How can Hero make her trust him again?

Reading this book was reminiscent of those 80s' bodice rippers. I had to check the publication date to make sure. And sure enough it was published in 1994. This book was literally a bodice ripper. I lost count on how many times the front of heroine's dress was torn off from her due to attempted rapes and accidental ripping. And let's not forget the multiple abductions of heroine. This book became amusing in a bad way. I found it unbelievable that heroine's husband waited so long to consummate their marriage especially after he got her back from running away on their wedding night. It seemed a contrived but weak attempt on the author's part to keep heroine from cheating on Hero.
Sexual chemistry and sex scenes were fine. Characterization was banal. There wasn't much depth to Hero and heroine. They were basically just 2 attractive people who fought the odds to be together once and for all. The odds were impossibly stacked against them but everything somehow fell in place just in time to defeat all the odds. Then voila Hero & heroine can be together forever. Predictable and unrealistic.

Minutely recommended.
