About the Author
Masashi Kishimoto made his debut in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1999 with Naruto, which became a big hit with both boys and girls. Kishimoto added a modern flavour to the ancient world of Japanese ninja to make Naruto one of the most popular series in Japan.

For those of you who don't know, this is when Naruto returns from his two year long training with Jiraiya and the start of the new 'Shippuden' series, and it doesn't disappoint.

The Naruto Shippuden series concentrates on the group, Akatsuki and their plan to capture all of the tailed beasts, including Naruto! It starts with a few light-hearted chapters with Naruto returning to Konoha, the Hidden Leaf Village. Before long, however, the action starts as two Akatsuki members invade the Sand Village to capture Gaara.

The book gets straight into the first Shippuden story arc which is great. However, it doesn't try to explain anything, so if you are new to Naruto then I would suggest watching the anime or starting from Volume 1.

In my opinion, the Shippuden storyline is better than the first half of Naruto, as it is more action-packed and Naruto is older and more mature than before. This book is definitely worth getting if you are into the Naruto series or just manga in general.
