FOLLOW MY LEAD! THE SURVIVAL CHALLENGE Naruto leads Konohamaru and his pals on a training exercise to Mt. Takurami, where he promptly gets them all lost. Can he get his act together in time to get them off the mountain and out of a raging storm, alive? Then, Naruto's been called a fool once or twice in his life, but he'll find out just how easily fooled he is when two impostors come to town disguised as a pair of very familiar Shinobi! On another mission, Naruto, Tenten, and Neji travel to the Land of Birds to exterminate a ghost named Noroimusha. Naruto summons a couple of old amphibious pals, Gamakichi and Gamatatsu, to help him solve the mystery surrounding a mysterious Cursed Warrior...

The series of fillers continue with the first episode (157) ending the arc from the previous series Box-Set.

The next episode is based around Naruto going on a work experience survival type adventure with Konohamaru and his two friends which offers a nice outlook on how the other characters would prefer as teachers.

Episodes 159 to 160 deals with Naruto teaming up with Kiba and Hinata and going on mission with a Bounty Hunter. A interesting filler two-part story and one that offers fans more time with Naruto and Hinata.

Episode 161 offers nothing new or interesting and is your typical pointless filler that is only done for laughs.

Episodes 162 to 167 begins a longer filler arc that deals with a Cursed Warrior and assassination attempt on a young lord and the mystery surrounding his family's death. Naruto along with Kakashi, Neji, Tenten and Rock Lee are grouped together for this latest mission. Overall its not a bad filler and offers some interesting twist and turns and decent action scenes but other then to spend more time with fan favorite characters it doesn't do anything new or interesting as a filler.

168 is a Special Themed Cooking Episode that actually has the character of Teuchi or the Ramen Guy as one of the main characters for this episode with Naruto, Choji and Sakura teaming up to help Teuchi save his kidnapped daughter by winning a cooking contest. Not bad for a filler and actually pretty funny and unique, especially considering that the Ramen Guy gets on the action.

I'm going to write this review with the assumption that you/the person for whom you are thinking of buying this are familiar with the premise of Naruto and its plot.

The most important thing to note with this box set is that it contains pure, unadulterated filler - i.e. episodes that have no relevance to the anime at all. No character development, no plot advances, nothing. The mangaka (original author) of Naruto had no involvement with them and it is very, painfully obvious.

Bearing in mind that the first arc of Naruto officially ended midway through the last box set, these episodes CANNOT advance the plot any further or give you any more manga-consistent character development. The filler episodes basically entail Naruto going on various quests to find Sasuke and other random characters from the show getting episodes centered around them for no reason other than 'it's their turn'. Several events and characters crop up in the filler but are never mentioned again, which is frustrating in many cases.

If you want advancement of both plot and character and, well the actual series, wait for the first box set of Shippuden to come out.

i started watching naruto just a few months back and was complety hooked by the awesome story lines and action, even ordering 2 series at a time because it was so good....until now. dont get me wrong series 7 isnt awful but it is a shadow compared to series 1-6. instead of advancing the story it goes all filler with throw-a-way episodes that mean nothing to the original story whatsoever. the 26 episodes are spilt into mini stories ranging from fair to mediocre with the odd comedy episode chucked in for good measure. you could skip this series and you would have missed nothing at all, however its not a complete waste as it allows you to get into some of the lesser characters as it does delve a bit into thier backrounds. non-essential,but since its faily cheap now its ok for the price and to complete your collection.
