First off I'd like to point out what a difference anime films are in Blu-ray over DVD. I have the first movie on dvd too so I compared them and the clarity, audio and all around drawings are SO much much better.
Now, onto the films themselves, to be honest, the first film is average, the opening scene is great, showing you a short brief fight between naruto and a giant dragon-like creature i nwhich you see Naruto get impaled, this then cuts to Sakura visiting Narutos' grave...the first time i saw this i felt what a great opening, and where can they go from here. From that point onwards we cut back in time in the lead up to the opening scene and ths is where it gets a bit stale, we get a slow moving process in which we see a lot of the Naruto-style humour which sometimes takes away from the feel of the film. After say 40 minutes the film picks back up again and becomes a fighting frenzy in which you expect Naruto to be, i won't go into anymore detail as I don;t want to ruin anymore of the film for you, but still the first film is about a 7.5/10 for me.
The second film is a much better addition to the Naruto series, The idea of a returning country to try and take revenge over the hiden leaf village is a great one, and there are some spectacular scenes thrown in. The way in which you get attached to the Doctor and his appentice is brilliant to only have one of them ripped away so soon, I won't say anymore as it contains major spoilers, but from that point twists and turns occur and its very enjoyable to watch. The fact that we get to see Sasuke again is great, we see some nice interactions between Naruto and Sasuke and at one point they have to team up. I'd give this film a 9/10.
Please make sure that you dont turn off the films before the subtitiles, Naruto films tend to have an extra bit at the end!
