Book Description

Is there a narcissistic mother on the rampage in YOUR life?

Extremely self-centered, narcissistic mothers can make life a living hell for the children who are forced to deal with them. It often doesn't matter if the child is three-years-old or sixty-three, the narcissistic monster mother can demean, criticize, embarrass, abuse, violate, hurt, neglect, cause havoc and/or just plain be mean to their own children - children who are often so starved for their mother's love, affection and acceptance, that they will lose their true selves in the process.

What's more, it doesn't seem to matter what country a person is from, life-sucking narcissistic monster mothers can be found in any culture and/or any language.

This ebook is an anthology of three separate authors' stories of the narcissistic mothers in their lives. All of them are daughters of narcissists - one is from the U.S., one is from the U.K., and the turmoils of the final author came while living in various locations within Europe. If you have a mother who torments you with her narcissistic ways, these ladies have written their stories for you to show you that you are not alone.

Compare their stories with yours and see how they may differ, yet are probably so similar in so many ways. Finally, see if the advice and actions that these three daughters offer from their experiences may make sense in your own situation with the narcissist in your life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating and horrifying 4 Jan. 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
This book is a fascinating read. Three women write about their experiences growing up with narcissistic mothers, how that hurt them as children and how they've learned to cope as adults.

The book is split into three distinct parts, with each author writing their third of the book. The middle part is made up mostly of very short anecdotes of the author's experiences, while the other two are structured more into chapters exploring the related impact of a series of events.

The book is deeply personal and painful, exploring the devastating effect such a mother can have on her children, along with the lessons the authors took from it. For me, the book opened my eyes to a whole world of horror. I can imagine this book being really useful to anyone who's lived through something similar.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good and informative 21 Mar. 2013

This book gave me a greater understanding of narcissism, it was however a little wordy at times which could make it hard work to get through if not a patient reader. Otherwise very good.

5.0 out of 5 stars Interesting & very helpful. 27 April 2014

Found this very interesting & helpful. I'm having counselling myself and thought this book seemed interesting & possibly helpful, even though I don't see my own mother as a narcissist. There are however, some similarities in the actions, behaviours of the mother's in these 3 stories & my own experiences. I'm glad I've read this book & know I've a lot of work to do. But, more importantly, I am not to blame! Would recommend this book to anyone who may need it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Narcissistic Mothers: Proof That Monsters Do Exist 7 Jan. 2013

This was an excellent book. It gave me a better understanding of narcissistic personality disorder, and what children go through daily with narcissistic mothers. I'm sure all mental disorders are difficult for the family, but narcissism can be very deceiving. One minute, all seems calm and normal, and the next minute, the mother is in a rage or does something mean to embarrass or demean her children. Narcissistic mothers are not capable of loving or nurturing and their poor children go through life constantly striving to earn their mother's love. The stories are about the adult children looking back on incidents in their lives that were especially upsetting to them. Their stories are well written and heart-wrenching. Reading about their experiences helped me realize that my relationship with my own mother was pretty good. Of course, there were times when we had major disagreements, as all children do with their parents. However, I know that I was truly blessed to have a loving, supportive mother. Reading these stories helped me to appreciate that fact.

5.0 out of 5 stars I neeeded this. 5 Jan. 2014

After having gone through a process of realization & beginning recovery from my childhood with an alcoholic mother, I recently realized she is also a narcissist. Reading the pages of this book, especially all of Chapters 1 & 3, are like reading journal entries I feel I could have written about myself & my own experiences with my mother.

It is SO FREEING to know that I am not alone. It is so inspiring to learn about others' journeys. I really needed to read these words to boost my confidence about my own decisions in dealing with (or in someways NOT dealing with) my mother's abusiveness. I recommend this book to anyone who is tired of feeling isolated & confused. Thank you, authors, for sharing your story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very helpful 9 Jan. 2015

I am the product of a narcissistic mother. She has done some atrocious things and has said some devastating things to me. I will be in therapy for a very long time due to the damage she has single-handedly caused. I am dealing, at 58 years old, with her newest scheme to destroy me...she will not communicate with me nor allow the father that I adore have any contact with me. I have supposedly done something she considers worse than had I murdered someone. This book helped me realize that I need to grow up and not allow someone else's behavior to destroy me any longer. If these remarkable women can do what is necessary to find away to deal with their personal narcissist, I can find a way also. I highly recommend this book to those who are suffering from the damage caused by a narcissistic mother. It is comforting to know you are not the only one...

4.0 out of 5 stars What did I do to deserve this? 20 Dec. 2013

I could identify with the stories, and parts were similar yet different to my experience. I think a section that had some better professional explanations as to the causes of narcissism would have caused me to give this book a higher rating. Some discussion as to why children of narcissists can do to not repeat the pattern and examples of behaviors that have broken the pattern would have improved the book .
