Book Description

July 1994
This book is an engaging and up-to-date summary of the impact of the Napoleonic era of France and Europe. It interprets this fascinating period in the context of the legacy of the French Revolution, and examines the social forces on which Napoleonic power was based. Original documents give a fresh and unusual perspective on social and political trends. Napoleon emerges as the heir and executor of the French Revolution, preserving its social gains, and consecrating the triumph of the bourgeoisie.

Excellent book about Napoleon Bonaparte and his part in the French Revolution. Informative without being dry...Journey from a General of the Revolution to the complete Emperor. His legacy for France is still felt today in the structure of government, education and society.

5.0 out of 5 stars Historical Review 23 Mar 2013
By Teneubrous - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Unlike the so called "Graduate History student" who stated that the book did not display Napoleons Character; the author blatantly points out in the Introduction that his purpose in the books is NOT to do that. The book is extremely interesting and allows you viewpoints you would have not known before. As a History major I am disappointed that someone would critique the book on something that author has already described.
If you are a history major and this is a book on your required reading list I would choose this book over any other.

I received my book today which is Tuesday Napoleon Bonaparte and they could became any sooner because I need to read chapter 1 and two by tomorrow morning. I'm very pleased with the service and the speed in which you delivered my book. I will in the future in all probability order more books over the next two years while Matt Temple University receiving my Masters degree. Sincerely Larry

1.0 out of 5 stars Poorly written 14 Dec 2006
By A. Forrester - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
The title of this book is misleading. Book provides way too many statistical studies rather than actual information on Napoleon's character. Book did not capture my interest at all and I am a history grad student. Author tried too hard by stating fact after fact and not a well thought out story line. Bottom line, extremely boring read.
