1.0 out of 5 stars incoherent travel guide, 27 April 2006
By S. Rummens (birmingham United Kingdom) - See all my reviews

This is a surprisingly poor book - unusually for Lonely Planet it is split into themes e.g. "eating", "history" rather than places. This makes finding relevant information tedious - not that there is that much really useful information. You might expect the guide to tell you how to get to Rome by train and how long the journey would take - prepare to be disappointed.

The title is also misleading - I bourght the book for a holiday on the Amalfi coast: this area is dealt with in 1 small chapter, and seems to be an after-thourght. The consequence is that I need to buy another book....

Poor effort - I would avoid this book

3.0 out of 5 stars A thorough Naples Guide Book, shame about the rest., 9 Jun 2009
By A. Bond - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I brought this guide for a holiday in Sorrento and was dissapointed with the lack of detail for the areas of the Amalfi coast. It is very thorough for Naples but who in thier right mind would want to spend any more time than they had to in that city? Suggest the Belkin book is cheaper and better for the areas around Naples.
