This book was bought as a present for a 27 year old friend who is notoriously hard to buy for. She has everything that she could possibly need or want, so where do you go from there?
Well- she's also known for her amusingly traditional hostessing skills at parties, and her anal and obsessive eye for detail. She's always striving to improve her dinner parties and gatherings. This book seemed like a perfect addition to her eccentric hostessing resume.
And I was right; she thought it was brilliant! (Result!).
The contents of the book is honestly ingenious, and understated. The ideas are brilliant and relatively simple to follow, and the pages aren't bulked out with pointless 'quirky' doodles or silly subtext, which I half expected with an unusual, fun book like this. It was to-the-point instructions with some elegant, minimalist shots of what the piece should look like when finished.
The content is really enjoyable and has a child-like indulgence, but the understated way that it is presented makes it perfect to give to a classy-chick friend like mine! :D
It was as though this book was made for her... Now I just have to worry about finding something as easily next year.....
