Have thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. Enough information about each building and plenty of photographs. There is also a great range of 'nano houses' from tiny portable dwellings to larger permanent structures.

This book is beautifully presented with some stunning photography, but much more technical than I had needed and understood from the reviews. Probably good for architects and landscape designers. Will donate to the local library and keep looking for what I need.

Pint Sized Coffee Book with beautiful text & photos

As a fan of design and architecture I think this book does a superb job of demonstrating a beautiful marriage between land and structure and how attuned architects are creating ultra-effecient structures designed to conserve the environment and enhance the lives of their inhabitance. Part of my fascination with the book is my curiosity of how the architects profiled in the book through their homes do a fantastic job of making tiny spaces appear and function as a space much larger than then one would believe based on the square footage footprint alone. All in all, this book has beautiful detailed photos and well thought out text profiling each of the homes from the conception to to realization.
Now i just want to build stuff.

great book, lots of project ideas and little tweaks to add to your thoughts on how to live small. Only complaint is some of the images and descriptions left a lot to be desired. The images were all wonderful, just not as informative as some would like.

the book missed the point!

My sister-in-law got me this neet little book for christmas. It is an interesting read and has a lot of really neet ideas in it... BUT...
by the middle of the book I was overwhelmed by the realization that all of the designs actually miss the point entirely.
The point being that we do not live our lives in houses anymore, but out and about,... so we need less space to live in and since space is at a premium in the cities that we live in we will cut back, make our personal/ living space/ homes smaller to pack them into the available space tighter.
But when a design requires large grass space to roll it to a new configuration or large areas outside to make it barely livable, well I'm thinking concept fail.
Most are small and placed in vast areas with no space constraints. I suppoae if you own nothing but the land and can only afford a cardboard box, but personally i would move to another state and get a bigger house.
