A mystery why this never had a UK release, 17 Nov 2009
This review is from: Nancy & Lee 3 (Audio CD)
This was the third and last album that Nancy Sinatra and the late Lee Hazlewood recorded together, the first two being in the late 60s and early 70s while this one was the result of a get-together in 2004 in Nashville.
There are some great tracks on here and Nancy's voice seems, if anything, better than in the early years. The same cannot be said of Lee's but he growls and talks his way through his parts in a totally acceptable way. Their re-work of the Drifters hit "Save The Last Dance For Me" is worthy of special mention.
Of special interest to me, as a life-long Duane Eddy fan is Track 12, a song written by Duane Eddy and Billy Falcon called "She Won't". Duane's great low-string accompaniment on this certainly makes this track outstanding.
I find it amazing that this album was never issued here in the UK but it was released in Australia. An absolute mystery - but that's record companies for you! Thanks to Amazon for making it possible to import it from Oz.

Nancy and Lee has scored high again!, 26 Jun 2004
This review is from: Nancy & Lee 3 (Audio CD)
The new CD by Nancy and Lee : NANCY/LEE 3 is finally out. I will say it is not a disappointment. It is really great. GOIN`DOWN ROCKIN`is a great song , and Nancy and Lee is rockin àlong on it. Both Nancy voice is very good , but more mature and a little deeper than it was in the 60`s. Lee`s voice is even deeper also than before. Here is magic once more. BARRICADES AND BRICK WALLS is also a great song , and Nancy and Lee does it very well. One of the very best on the album. AFTER THE LOVIN`is a ballad , which Nancy has recorded before with Mel Tills. Nancy and Lee does this in a very beautiful way. COWBOYS AND INDIANS is a Lee Hazlewood song, written with fast and slower parts ,and tough and easy. All the things a Lee Hazlewood song usually has. This one has everything and Nancy and Lee does it very nice. It is a country like tune. The rest of the album is a variation of songs , and they are all a perfect choice for Nancy and Lee. Some of the tunes i have not mentioned , like DON`T LET GO and IS MAKING A LITTLE LOVE OUT OF THE QUESTION ?, are Lee Hazlewood songs as well . They have the sense and humour that Nancy and Lee have, and this is really the beauty and the beast. SHE WON`T is a beautiful song written by Duane Eddy , and he plays his twangy guitar on it. It reminds me of "SOME VELVET MORNING", very special. Nancy and Lee does this in a very passionate way. The hungry years is a song which shows Nancy`s great ability as a vocalist. There is both a duet version with Lee and a solo version. This is in my opinion one of the best songs Nancy has ever recorded. Totally this CD is really strong , and it shows that Nancy and Lee still has the magic and the humour that is very special for their duets. I recommend this record highly. In my poinion the best i have bought in 2004. Kristian Grimeland

The fairy tales and fantasies return, 22 May 2004
This review is from: Nancy & Lee 3 (Audio CD)
It appears a previous reviewer has confused this CD with the original "Nancy & Lee" album from 1968 which it is not. This is the brand new studio album called "Nancy & Lee 3" released in 2004. The correct track listing for this CD is as follows: 1. Goin' Down Rockin' 2. Barricades & Brickwalls 3. After The Lovin' 4. Gypsies & Indians 5. The Hungry Years 6. Don't Let Go 7. Strangers, Lovers, Friends 8. Save The Last Dance For Me 9. Texas Blue Moon 10. Loving You Loving Me 11. Is Making A Little Love Out Of The Question? 12. She Won't 13. Pack Saddle Saloon 14. The Hungry Years (Nancy Solo Mix) After the long wait, some 32 years to be exact. The new Nancy & Lee album is finally here. And it has been well worth the wait. Any true fan of Nancy Sinatra or Lee Hazlewood will surely find something to enjoy on this album. After playing the CD constantly everyday now for the last couple weeks it is really hard to pick my favourite tracks. They are all good. But the following are my top picks of the CD. Loving You Loving Me Another older Lee Hazlewood song given new life with Nancy's vocals. This song is growing on me more and more after every listen. Gypsies & Indians A Lee Hazlewood penned track. It's got a real catchy tune, you'll be humming along to this for a long time. Save The Last Dance For Me This one made me feel real good and put a big smile on my face, I loved it. Is Making A Little Love Out Of The Question? Definitely one of the funniest Nancy & Lee songs. "And you can fix your own ??????? food". Very funny. The Hungry Years (Nancy Solo Mix) The solo mix version I think is one of Nancy's best songs ever. Nancy is in great voice on this. This belongs on my list of top 20 Nancy songs. I'm overjoyed after playing this CD, Nancy & Lee both sound better than ever. The fantasy and magic is still there. I hope we don't have to wait another 30 odd years for the next album. "Nancy & Lee 3" is a great gift to fans. All we want now is the original two albums from 1968 and 1972 to get re-released on CD.
