About the Author

American artist Nancy Chandler has been creating unique maps, cards and gifts celebrating life in Thailand since she moved there in the late 1960s with her young family. A native of San Francisco, her unique style is characterized by the use of bright colors, humourous comments and witty insights, and the ability to make sense out of chaos when creating detailed market maps. She now spends much of each year in the US with her youngest daughter, Kim, a high functioning Down Syndrome young lady (and an artist as well). Nancy does however return to Thailand annually on research trips and to visit friends and family, including her two other daughters, Nima (now her business partner and responsible for updating Nancy's maps) and Siri, a mindfulness teacher for children.

This is an excellent map of Bangkok and has everything you need for a smooth trip to the hectic city.

The map and accompanying guide are very detailed and give excellent recommendations on things like shopping, bars, restaurants and sightseeing. The map of Chatuchak Market is especially useful, as every first time visitor to Bangkok simply has to go there.

The style of the map is different to any other map you'll see, and even appeals to female travellers!

In summary, this map is known the world over as the best map of this exciting and vibrant city. Don't travel to Bangkok without it.

I cannot praise this product highly enough. Not only is it a map of the city, not only does it tell you how to transport around the city, not only does it give you a guide to the best places to eat, shop, get entertainment etc but it also gives vital information on local markets especially the only useful map of the Chattachuk weekend market (not to be missed). I always buy the latest edition for 2 reasons - firstly because things change so quickly in the Big Mango and secondly because I use it so much it's nearly always falling apart by the time the next edition comes out.

Found this map to be invaluable as I travelled around Bangkok. Especially its excellent information as to where to go and see and also for the information it provides as to the good places to shop.

Would have been lost without it!

This map and the one of chiang mai was more useful to me the lonely planet guide.its not a traditional map-jam packed with information.I cant say it was 100% accurate since shops and commercial premises are bound to rapidly change;having said that a ridiculous number of shops/restaraunts and phone numbers were incorrect in lonely planet despite buying the latest one. However I emailed nancy chandler maps and got the info i needed in detail which astounded me as i just emailed to complain expecting no response.you'd be daft not to get this map!Invaluable.

If you're buying it to go to BKK then it might be worth getting it there, about 250 thb, which is approx £5 so I would buy it it in a bookshop there, we saw it in lots of places. Map is really handy for finding hidden gems, and lovely cafes etc. Another great thing is that any changes or updates are listed online, google nancy chandler updates bangkok etc and its all there.

This map is invaluable, a gem. It is difficult to buy in Bangkok so highly recommend you buy before you travel. I am so pleased to be able to buy a new copy as I gave my last one to a Begian couple. It is the easiest and most informative map and guide I have ever seen. There are colour coded maps of different areas of Bangkok and so easy to follow. The guide book tells you where to find every type of resteraunt, bar, shop, place of interest. The map of the market is so precise, this can be a daunting place to shop, as the lanes are small with thousands of stalls, yet I was able to find what I wanted with ease.

Bangkok taxi drivers are not like London taxi drivers. They do not know their way around, they cannot speak English or read a map, not that they have one and forget about sat navs. I discovered this at my cost when I picked up a cab and it was only when I saw signs pointing to the airport when I knew I wanted to be the other side of town that I stopped the taxi, climbed into the front seat, got out my Nancy Chandler's Map and guided the driver back to my hotel. After that I never let the map out of my sight and invaluable it proved to be as did the guide to Chiang Rai.
The little guide books that go with the map are useful too especially with phone numbers to book restaurants.
