'Funny, charming, and ultimately touching ... using humor, warmth, and a great eye for the intricacies of life, Crane draws you into this story of being lost in the midst of family confusions, then finding oneself' Heather Swain, author of Luscious Lemon.

'Crane's newest book is just plain fun ... a funny, smart rendering of the exquisite tenderness that sets in once the engagement is announced' Sheila Curran, author of Diana Lively Is Falling Down.

More About the Author

Megan Crane is a New Jersey native who had great plans to star on Broadway, preferably in Evita, just like Patti LuPone. Sadly, her inability to wow audiences with her singing voice required a back up plan. Accordingly, she graduated from Vassar College and got her MA and PhD in literature from the University of York in England. She wrote her doctoral dissertation on AIDS literature, mostly so she could wallow in her obsession with the remarkable multi-media artist David Wojnarowicz and her idol, the bitter and hilarious David Feinberg. After many years in the rain and subject to the whim of seasons, she followed the sun to Los Angeles, where she lives with a dog, a cat, two crazy kittens, and an artist named Jeff. She is still plotting her Broadway debut.

5.0 out of 5 stars Chick lit but a bit different 20 July 2012

Courtney is the youngest of three sisters. Her dad left her mother when she was expecting Courtney and then died of a heart attack just before she was born. This left a very disfunctional family, with the mum grieving and leaving a lot to the oldest sister and the middle sister eventually leaving home six years before the story starts, having effectively ruined the oldest sister's wedding. Courtney gets engaged to her boyfriend and wants to invite her absent sister to her engagement party and wedding. Add an old boyfriend into the mix, who is now with the absent sister, and you have the makings of some very strained and awkward situations and relationships. The story is well told though and kept me wanting to keep reading till I got to the end. I read the Kindle version and am pleased to say the layout was good and there were only two or three typos in the whole book.

Not my most favorite read. I don't have a sister but at my stage of life it would be good to have someone to talk to at times. The relationship between the three girls in this story wad very complex.

5.0 out of 5 stars megan crane my favourite author 2 Dec 2013
Format:Paperback
For me it does not matter what novel Megan Crane writes I just love all of them. I find her novels so easy to get in to and full of drama. Names My Sister Calls Me is about Courtney who boyfriend goes on one knee on the ice with a romantic proposal. Nora, Courtney's sister starts making Courtney and Lucas wedding plans, which drives Courtney insane. Courtney tells Norah that she wants their other sister Raine to come to her wedding. Norah is furious with Courtney that she want Raine to her wedding as Raine walked out of Norahs wedding with a guy. Norah thinks that Raine is a selfish drama queen. Norah claims that she will tell Lucas about Courtney having a crush on her older sisters bsstfriend, pointing out that its either Norah or Raine at Courtney's wedding. Phew! so much happens it is a page turner. I really do recommend Names My Sister Calls Me. I hope that many readers will put their feet up and enjoy this novel as much as I have. This is my second book by this authoress and like the first I really didn't enjoy it. There were parts of the book where I thought I was getting "into it" but it was just too deep for me however I did still struggled to the end. Even the title was way over my head.
